Advice on a gaming desktop

OK so i have a budget of $1500 and i would like to buy a powerful desktop. I've been taking a look around and so far this one seems pretty good: Alienware Aurora
It's kinda costly and i know there are better out there for the same price. If any of you guys could help me chose one based on my budget and on my wants. Also if you guys think it's better to build one instead of buying pre-made then let me know, although i would prefer to buy one already made since I've never assembled a full PC. I would like to get a desktop with i7 920 at least and hopefully a high end card with a nice power supply for future upgrades.

With Alienware you are basically paying extra money for a little alien head on your tower. Alienware makes good quality PCs but at a cost. You could build something like that for much less
But on that particular site, the Alienware is probably the best
