Default What happens if you side with the revolutionaries in a revolt?

In my France campaign, France region has revolted twice. I'm fighting real costly War with Britainand the Indians in North America so I've needed the tax revenue to avoid bankruptcy. Anyway, I've sided with the King both times.

What would happen if I sided with the revolution?

I know I should have saved and then selected revolution in order to see for myself but I forgot.

You will get a new government type, (in his case a republic), where it will be easier to maintain social order. There is a guide on government types here somewhere, its really good

If you choose revolution side, you will be rebel and loose control of entire state. You try to end current kingdom and build a new republic. Let's cut long story short; you becomes against your own state, which is a terrible feeling.

What army do you have? How do you recruit? Does your nation go bankrupt? What about all the territories?

Ok i'll describe it in a long way:

    1) Revolution only appear in your home region (france in your case). If any other provinces has unrest, it will just rebel
    2) Because of your government type, an absolute monarchy, the lower classes are unhappy. Add industrialisation effect and enlightment theory's to that and they will rebel sooner or later.
    3) You can alwys see when a revolution is coming. First turn of unhapinnes: workers' stike
2nd turn: workers damage a building
3rd turn: revolution (or rebellion in a province which is not your home region)
    4) When the revolution screen appears you have the choice to side with the government or with the rebels. You already know what happens when you side with the government.
When you side with the rebels, an army will appear just outside your capital (with a different flag mostly). You know control that army, and only that army. Your empire is now in a fog of war, and you can't do anything. To make the revolution succeed, you will have to capture the capital with the army that has just spawned
    5) When you capture the capital, the revolution succeeds (and you get the control over your empire back). A new government type is installed. In your case, this will become a republic. Every government type has it upsides and downsides. France is at the start an Absolute monarchy. You can do with your ministers what you want, but the lower classes are unhappy and it puts a break on your technology research. In a republic, there is no king, everyone in the government is selected by elections. You cannot easily change your cabinet, but people are much happier because they have a say in the matter.

But for the second time, check this out: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...33#post5686433

People write guides for a reason. Just as a manual is included for a reason

CM is the best government type in the game. High tax rate can be set for both upper and lower classes.
In an AM lower class revolt, siding with the rebels and taking the capital city will create a republic government. In a republic upper class revolt (named "counterrevolution"), siding with the rebels and taking the capital city will create a CM government, which is the most stable government type.

What happens if you side with the rebels and lose? I know it's hard to lose against this ai, but if you did do you just lose the game? Or do you just keep your old government?

    Hi there.
You loose the game. Quite the reason to prepare revolutions in advance. E.g. remove troops from region so that your pathetic rebellion do not have to fight elite armies with Swiss Guards, Grenadieren and Royal Ecossais (I lost as the rebels)

Also, be sure to check the diplomatic tab and look at your faction's relations to the rest of the world, especially if a republic is born. Quite the sea of red.

If you side with the rebels, are you able to freely move that one army you get around the map? Do you have to try and take back the capital straight away? What I'm getting at is is it possible to create an offshoot of your original nation? Say your France and you side with rebels in a revolution, can you then go on to conquer say Denmark or Great Britain while leaving Paris intact? It would be great if you be your own sub-faction, fighting off the oppression of your former masters while making a new for yourself in the world against other nations! Can anyone elaborate on this?
"Muscovy", as its rulers have previously called it, is a sleeping giant, with age-old traditions and ways of doing things. Here, the feudal way of life has become so entrenched that the serfs are as tied to the land as cattle, and with almost as few rights. It is a vast, deeply conservative and religious country: Mother Russia and the Orthodox Church are the two pillars of national belief. The Tsar may be the father of his people, but by tradition and practice he is a stern parent. Ivan the Terrible was well named, and he has not been the only ruler with an iron will. Russia is the "Third Rome". The last bastion of Orthodox Christianity.

I don't have an answer for you, but that's an amazing idea! Rep just for asking.
