    Default Casse?

    Dear fellow EB'ers,

Having just finished successfully my EB game with the Seleucids by getting the Victory screen (despite fighting a war of attrition against the Romans in Italy and modern-day Croatia), I am interested in starting a game playing as the Casse, since I live in southern Britain. However, Google-searching has left me none the wiser as to who they actually are.

This website is as close as I could find anything (it looks a gaming website though, so I'm a bit dubious), and it says they were a collaboration between tribes in South-East Britain, the main one being the Catuvellauni, which Wiki has an interesting article about. I also can't find anything about Camulosadae, although Camulodunum (Colchester) was was the capital of the Trinovantes and sounds suspiciously similar.

Does anyone have any interesting thoughts about who the Casse were? I had a quick search on the EB forums but didn't find anything. Thanks!

The Wiki article calls them "Cassi," says they were one of the five groups Caesar met, and they probably merged with some others to become the Trinovantes. Aside from that, no one really knows much about them, apparently.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

The Casse are the most controversial faction in the EB mod. Sadly, the guys who did the research on them are not with the team anymore and have not left their sources.

That said, you wouldn't expect much in the way of literary evidence. We have no written sources on the island until Caesar arrives there, which is two centuries after the start of the game.

Yes they are the same place, I believe its just a different version of the name.

They are fun to play. As for the few units that may or may not be historically inaccurate, you can just leave them out if you care about it. Your most useful troops will be slingers, Gaeroas/Cemmeinarn/Silures, and Milnaht anyway (plus axemen if you need to fight the Gauls and Romans).

Interesting, thanks! This would explain why the Casse capital is Camulodunum, since they were one of the main five tribes. Camulosadae may well be Camulodunum, since the Romans changed the name to Camulodunum from Camulodunon, they all mean the same thing (Fortress of Camulos, the British version of Mars).
