Problem with Shogun and MTW gold edition.

I recently baught from a friend of mine the TW Eras gold edition that have the latest versions of both Shogun/MI and MTW/VI.
The game starts but when i must fight part of my screen disapears and i can NOT order the units to attack(no sword or bow symbol for that).

Is there any sugestion of how i can solve this problem?
Could be the grafics problem because i have a total new pc with wide screen etc...?

i also have the TW Eras Gold Edition and never had a problem with 17" and 19" screens. probably the wide screen analysis or the graphic card drivers.
try it to a friend's pc, who does not have a wide screen and check if the problem will still exists!

Hello,

i bought STW Gold yesterday from Amazon and i got a similiar problem. Everything works fine, but as soon as the battle maps have loaded, weired things happen (black screens, freezing, missing buttons..) I updated my drivers, made a new installation, tried different resolutions, run stw in comatibily mode with xP an Win98, nothing worked.

I searched in the internet for help and i have found some posts from users with similiar issues, saying that STW Gold is not compatible with newer graphic cards (nvidia8800 and higher). Is anyone here, who can confirm this? (I own a 9800 GTX+)

My grafics card is NVidia GeForce GTS 250
So is kind of new i confirm the problem.

I have Vista64, a 9800 GT and a widescreen monitor and I am having similar issues (flickering, CTDs... etc). Tried every windows compatibility mode, tried software mode, tried lowering my desktop resolution... long story short, tried a bunch of stuff and nothing worked.

I just bought STW Gold today as I lost my original copy of STW. I was hoping to relive the glory days of Total War gaming and also get a bit hyped up about S2TW...

Has anyone actually gotten STW Gold to work on Vista64???

Well, as I said one post above yours, I found a solution (thank you, google

) and it actually works for many people. But I don't know wheter or not it works with Vista. Just try it.

I am having issues running RTW 1.5/BI 1.6 on my computer (Windows 7)...after I installed Rise of Persia mod, the installation stopped working altogether, including running as an admin and in compatibility mode for XP...this after it worked fine earlier running in compatibility mod for Windows XP service pack 2

The best solution is to put a mod on it . Had the same problem but ive put redux on it (great mod btw ) .And it updates the game with more graphic drivers.So it is now playable and better than vanilla

Yes, for MTWGold the solution can be found here (download link in first post):

But for STWGold there is no fix available. From what i read, it maybe useful to run STW with the onboard graphic. But switching back and forth is too miuch work on my PC.

For me, the following worked for Shogun Total War: Go into graphic options and click software mode. I have a Nvidia 250 GTS and it didn't work at all, but this fixes it.

If the game worked in vanilla before installing the mod, and the installer stopped, and is Rise of Persia modfoldered or are installing right on your only vanilla copy?

I have Win 7, RTW 1.5/BI 1.6 in tis folder, Terrae Expugnandae in its folder, and Solve Populus in its folder, and they all work.

I would suggest reinstalling RTW and BI and patch it, make a copy of the whole folder, redownload a fresh copy of the mod and install it in the copy folder and rename it Rise of Persia.
