how to charge help
Hello
I have some questions about the basics in the game
Every time i want to make a decent infantry charge i doubleclick several times to make my troops not go after a single enemy unit and break the line.
There must be an easier way to make the initial charge - a hotkey perhaps??
When i watched some online battles and replays all the footmen held a perfect and steady line when carging multiple targets. How do i do that? I want to ask some experienced players about this for i guess you can tell im new to this game.
I tried Alt + left click but it doesnt work.
My version of the game is the very first one 1.0 so perhaps in later versions control is improved??
engage at will or hold position - how do i selct that cus i dont seem to have these optins in my game

Re: how to charge help
I would advise against double posting the exact same topic in 2 connected forums.
As to your questions... "r" = run, which, once you've told a unit to attack another, will cause them to run at the enemy unit and charge the final distance.
The shield of "defend / hold position" (depending on unit and game / mod) will cause your unit to hold its shape better and not chase after the enemy if they run away.
Some units are just better at holding their formation than others. Many "lesser" units, those with traits such as "May charge without order" or those of peasant / mob-like design, will be less likely to "follow orders" as often, causing some individual members of the unit to break formation, or just simply having the line charge hap-hazardly.

Re: how to charge help
First of all, there is a pause key, I use it often, just to make minor changes to my strategy and keep a good look over the battlefield.
You can group infantry by using the group key, once they are grouped you can select the group and let it attack a target.
But if you mean single unit control, than yes, of course you have to manually tell them what to do.

Also, upgrade to 1.3
1.0 has some terrible bugs.
