Why did you use R:TW again, and not move onto M:TW, for example EB was R:TW at base, but EB2 is now working in M:TW

    No insult, just wondering.
    Regardless, Roma Surrectum looks BEAST.

I'm assuming it's because the team is more familiar with the Rome engine.

    Several reasons:

    1. RTW\BI\ALEX are still decent game engines IMHO, but needed a 'graphical update'.
    2. The breakthroughs made by 'Gotthard' concerning environmental changes allowed those graphical changes to happen 'en mass'.
    3. Familiarity...yes, that played a big role, and when we started RS2, M2TW had 'just' been released..or maybe hadn't been yet. I don't remember.
    4. The inability...still present to this day, by and large...to change buildings in M2TW to look more 'Classical Era' rather than Medieval.
    5. RTW\BI\ALEX are HIGHLY moddable at this point, whereas the others have some major flaws (Note petition to CA thread).

I'm not saying that M2TW isn't a good engine. It just is not yet a viable engine for creating a mod for this time period.

    ....and at that point
    1) We didn't even dream that we would be changing / needing to change so much
    2) We didn't even dream how long that amount of work would take

    Thanks for the posts!
I expected it to be mainly with the familiarity of the Rome engine.

Yeah, and if I'm right, when the team began work on RS2, it was only to be a 'small' update for 1.5 - then the 'small' turned into total overhaul of the game.

Our 'nemisis' was the fact that we learned, learned, and kept learning....which leads to "well, we can do this", and, "why not do that?" And then, "wow, if we did this it would be really cool..." And so the snow ball rolled over us and crushed us under it's weight. LOL

And now you are soon to throw that massive snowball at us! You will be putting a huge burden on everyone when you release it
