NTW Rants thread

Lets see if this beats the praise thread this time

my complaint is the music is still bad, except for the spine tingling main menu music and the game's a bit fast, it feels somewhat arcadey

Also it crashes sometimes.

I havent had a crash yet. Music is music is music to me. Thats one area RTW still beats the rest of the TW games.

Well its crashed three times for me and music isn't music when it's made by jeff van dyck.

Music isn't music when it's made by Jeff van Dyck? What are you on? It makes no sense what you are saying.

Played it on a friend's computer, I'm not installing mine yet, so far everything went smooth. I like the new models and it feels different.
No rants so far.

Check the Windows error log for Napoleon.exe and it will tell you which module faulted. I have seen two other people report mss32.dll which is a Miles Sound System file.

It seems to happen most when i tired to access xfire in game but it crashed once out of battle for no reason.

Besides the crashes its definitely a fun game.

I want to rant that the graphics are so amazing, they bring tears to my eyes.

i know what u mean about it being arcadey - it def feels fast , like u could pop in a coin in an arcade machine and have a 3 minute battle...

im dissappointed so many things are locked in single player cos i dont wana play as Naploean all the time...

One of my biggest complaints about NTW is that they made all of these beautiful models for the land units but left the ship crew models the same as ETW.

Moscow is not the capital of Russia, never was in this period. Though at least they don't have you building the Winter Palace in Moscow.

The game costs nearly double in my country for no apparent reason.

Bagpipes. Or rather the lack of. This just annoys me because they told us they would be in the game, I don't like being lied to.

Then I take it you did not get ETW. Lots of lies in that one.

I shot Emperor Napoleon in the back with a cannonball, wounding him for...several weeks.

...I believe that artilleryman has not been seen since. Silly friendly fire.

But they are! I've heard them! just zoom in

I've played for 15 hours so far and no crashes, which is amazing considering Empire crashed almost every 5 turns.

The only rant I have so far is that Austria is trying to make peace with me but the next turn they are convinced to side with the Coalition.

Zoomed in on a frigate in a naval battle and found that it was throwing up a wake like a speedboat that was apparently flowing straight through the hull.

I know every wooden ship leaks, but jeez... come on!

And, like Empire, it was moving upwind at what looked to be 20 knots.... in a flat calm!!

OHHH - And the marines still had ridiculous outfits!

Bah... I will have to wait for some serious naval mods before my Great Britain campaign.

AND I have been clicking the board button for like three minutes and my frigate has just been circling an enemy frigate repeatedly before somehow losing the ability to board altogether and finally routing. The board button literally stopped working after circling for minutes. - This might actually be something for the bug thread...

Ive had one Crash in the entire campaign from start to finish as prussia. happened during battle. Could be a driver issue havnt updated in a long time.


I agree, i miss the music design from the composer who did MTW1 and RTW. The best piece of music is the menu. Past that its all still... very average.


But thats about it, and that all minor things.

I dont enjoy navel warefare, Im more of a army man. So in result of this i just have the computer simulate it.
