That`s fair enough, it`s your choice, but don`t rant against CA if you can`t stand up to them. All this does is make SEGA\CA\KIERAN know that all they need to do is ignore you and weather the storm and still rob you of money for a game that you already PAID for.


I ain`t buying NTW and they won`t get a penny from me. I know CA\SEGA don`t care and my lack of cash is nothing to them, but I stand by my principles.

I will buy NTW at some point when it goes on sale. So they won't get full price from me. Token gesture I know but it is my only way of hurting them somehow after buying a broken EmpireTW that has not been fixed.

I'm going back to tabletop wargaming.
I still have all my old Avalon Hill and GDW tabletop wargames, and they seem pretty stable and never crash, unless my wife knocks the table over.

I guess CA cured me of my addiction to pc and video games, because I haven't bought a game since ETW and have no intentions of doing so.
The thought of handing someone $60.00 or more for a piece of badly coded garbage doesn't strike my fancy, but that's just me.

i dont think you have to desert your pc altogether,im an old wargamer too and theres plenty of good stable mods for the other tw games,try for king or country if you need a black powder fix it works very well.and you dont need to activate it or any of that other tosh! sadly my wife has banished all my wargames armys to the garage.nice to see there are some here with the courage of their convictions! chin chin!!

I'm one of those breast beaters but, to my shame, i bought it. Since Shogun i've been in love with what this series could be. A few months of not visting the forums and not playing ETW faded the bitterness and hatred i felt to CA. A steam offer, some pretty pictures and my head filled with the potential of what it could be and i'm now the regretful owner of a NTW pre-purchase.

i bought etw on a steam deal for only 10 bucks. still i played it a few days without having even much fun. wasnt even really worth the 10 bucks. might give ntw a shot once its 5 bucks haha

They do realize that by launching NTW and by trying to fix ETW it would resolve some of the issues around the aggressiveness of the community. We will have to wait to see what CA will do, meaning when the patch will come out. If you want another strategy talk to the citizens, which most of them seem to have a more reasonable and believable approach to this matter. There is a on going discussion to this matter at the capitol and it seems that CA could respect us more if we have some interesting positions, a more mature approach to the problem a more substantial one. As I have stated what is stopping you all guys to start modding? I'm on a basic class of PS in the university, you should all try it too, this is one way to being relevant to the community. Another way could be what my banner is trying to do. Since you're so popular around here you could try to mount what Marcus have made. A reasonable approach, he tried to contact all the modding teams to unite them.

Simply stating what you're doing only divides the community that apparently you hold so dear, try to unite it, it always best this way.

The Totla War Center community has always been divided amongst nationalistic lines,..and CA divided it amongst gamers and those who "were" TW supporters.

As far as modding goes, most mods seem to make the game more unstable, and...has CA released any modding tools yet?
Seems in order for a mod to be successful it would have to be implimented apon a stable foundation, and ETW is not that.

This isn't a boycott for me, it's called avoiding making the same mistake twice.
If you stick your hand in a fire and get burned most people would refrain from doing it again.

Boycott NTW until ETW is wholly and truly fixed. Games should NOT have to be made playable via third party mods. Disappointing on the whole chaps.

What are the tools for RTW? MTWII? They have never launched any tools, in the first case there were some excel tables, and in the second case a mod. In ETW they have worked wih Darth Vader in his mod as help that he could turn to understand some values. Mods do have a tendency of making the game unstable, although that was not the only way that I described in my post in how to be relevant to the community. There are other options besides what I said, and what you guys are doing. And calling this not a boycott? ludicrous ain't it?

I'm going to wait for the joyous praise to turn into critique proper before I embark on another roller-coaster with my cash. I feel that many players of NTW are singing it's praises because it's simply not ETW. There is still so much that can be done with ETW. Even CA have admitted that NTW moved beyond the ETW code, so what's the problem with releasing the mod tools now? Money. That's what.

I still find it amazing that even though NTW has been released, the FREE mods to make it better are already in the pipeline because it's not been sorted 'at source'. Silly as it sounds, but just take a look at the flags for one example! Couldn't even be bothered to add a bit of class there and tbh, I'm not sure I can be either. Maybe if I offered it as a DLC, charging for the privileged? Hmmmm....

I for one would LOVE ETW to be enhanced with the improvements of NTW... but that ain't gonna happen is it? To use a famous quote, Empire Total War... "the fat lady has sung." And it was only released 11 months ago!

Just posted this in the MP Forum, then i saw this thread. Its my personal point of view:

A good friend of mine is forcing me to buy NTW, you guys moving, i´m- of course- snoopy too. I will see, how long i can resist...
The thing is 40€ is not an insignificant amount either for a kind of "stand-alone-addon". What really spites me is the fact that with special units it is 50€. Thats a lot of money for a "stand-alone-addon", isnt it?
One can argue, then buy it without special units and maybe i will do this. But let me ask: What is a US Army without the Legions? A Prussian Army without the 2nd Hussars?

I remember, i have paid 24€ for BI at the release. And i remember, i have paid 34€ for M2TW+Kingdoms on ebay a few month after release of Kingdoms. Also i remember, i have paid ~80€ for ETW+DLCs. And now? 50€ for a planned addon which become a stand-alone + upcoming DLCs? In the end, maybe we have paid 150€ for the chapter ETW!

I dont blame the seller, his motivation is quite clear, no need to discuss over it. I´m in doubt about the costumer. Is this no issue in your mind, guys?

I've gone back to Med2. No NTW for me until it's full bargain basement and fully modded and patched. Once the campaign map is cracked I'll think about it.

My nephew is sending me a copy of Kingdoms, so plenty of life in Med2 for me-I haven't even started on mods apart from "For King or Country" so I can wait YEARS!

I did get very excited when people started posting the youtube videos, and saw some features I had not heard about before, but after watching the live streaming, The BAI is pretty much Vanilla ETW. I will probably buy it once Darth mods it, but intil then I cant see why anyone else would want to buy NTW, unless pretty graphics are that much more importent

I have NTW and it is a great game, now as the OP says CA must sort ETW out in terms of AI!
