Default White Flashes on screen help

I just starting playing Napoleon: Total War and for some reason every couple of seconds I get a white square on a part of the screen that it disappears. I'm guessing that I have to roll back my video card drivers to an earlier date but I dont know how to do that. Can anyone help? ;[

Could be anything really. It's time to do what we all do when something goes wrong, start the process of elimination.

If different drivers dont fix the problem then its overheating.

It could be artifacts or it could even be corrupted Steam files. It could be anything.

Check your drivers, check your temps, verify the files on steam.

Reinstalled the driver and the game works fine now!
I was wondering though, should I update the drivers or would that just mess it up again?

Use what is stable, I find what works, I stick with what works till it no longer works. Newer is not always better.

Updating was apparently a bad idea. Rolling back. >;(

it wouldnt hurt, if they r drivers that came with the card / computer they are probably old. But in the end its up to you.

you got to uninstall first then restart before updating, other wise you get a mis match of different driver versions. Windows cannot delete files in active memory without restarting.

I dont update often but when i do this is what i do

1.Add-remove programs, uninstall driver. Restart when it asks you, if it doesnt restart anyway.

2.After restart Run http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ cleans up any left overs that might not have been removed.

    3.Download latest driver

4.install restart when it tells you.

yeah like people said, take a look to GPU temperatures, as so as if u got the overclock sliders for ur graphic card too high, that makes artifacts too

thats true 9800gt's have tendency to overheat , i owned the 8800gt which is the same core as the 9800gt (9800gt memory is clocked high if i remember correctly), and i had to install a 3rd party program to increase its fan speed.
