Napoleon Troubleshooting Thread

i really need help, i installed my napoleon total war from the game of the year edition and the game starts up fine but whenever i try to do a battle or start a campaign, i get instant ctd. i verified the files like you said on the first post and it said all files were verified so im really confused as to what to do and empire total war works fine so i dont think its anything to do with my system specs.

Let's see,
1. 2.1 Sempron versus Athlon 2.4 is below spec.
3. 3gig ram for is minimum spec for decent game running.
4. 253mb dedicated graphis memory versus 256mb minimum spec, maybe playable.
5. 3200 graphics card/chip os lowend for the 3000 series and debatable for battles.
6. Less that 10gb free space on C: drive is bad news. No room for a game swap fileof any size.

Have you installed diectx 9.0c, C++ 2005 SP1, and .Net 4 manually?
Have you tried updating your gaphics drivers? You mayby stuck with Toshiba's, though.

Hi guys just new to the forums however i have an issue i hope you may be able to help with. i recently bought the Empire/Napoleon GOTY Edition Retail DVD. Empire installed beautifully after a few failed attempts but no matter how much i try Napoleon just wont install. wont even let me try and download it from a steam server. gets halfway through creating local game cache files and brings up the servers are busy dialogue box. i have tried the fixes posted in this thread to no avail. cd key activated no worries. im not gonna get all uber cranky like alot of ppl get as long as i get to play my game ill be content

edit- i should also mention now whenever i open the launcher from the dvd it says Play, Reinstall and Uninstall even though nothing got installed

Change servers and hit reinstall.
If that does not work, log into Steam and your game cache integrity in Napoleon.
Being over 20gb each, it may not hurt to verify Emire's cache while there.

Do you have a Napoleon folder in Steam and Creative Assemby?
If so delete them, run a registry cleaner, reboot, then try installing.

that was actually one of the methods i tried. the game fully installed on my desktop pc and am currently moving the steamapp data to my directory via home network to see if i can get steam to think i have installed it. i assume it kinda works like a mmo client that way. i guess napoleon just doesent like my laptop
