Error message when beginning Install from DVD

I have the retail limited edition DVD. I start the install, enter my registration code, then click "Next" to begin installing. I immediately get a dialog box that says, "This game cannot be installed." All I can do is click cancel and it quits the installer. The dialog box has a Steam header on it.

What is wrong that it won't install? I have the new Steam beta, could that be affecting it? If so, how do I switch back to the original Steam UI?

Are you from US? if not the game is not going to be installed. If you are then try downloading the game from steam

Yes, I'm in the US. I don't want to download from Steam. I bought the DVD so I wouldn't have to wait 20 hours to install the game. The game should install from DVD. I just want to know how to make it work.

try deleting steam and then install from the cd

It's working now. I just had to quit Steam and restart after entering my registration code. I guess you can't have Steam running when you try to install from DVD.

For some reason it started installing without me even entering a registration code - it completely installed but is trying to download via Steam again.

I deleted Steam and will try your suggestion.

edit: it installed finally, but now it is...updating at 60kb/s (damn Hotel internet). Even when I disable auto-updating the game still won't launch after restarting.

spacehamster you will have to let it finish at least one update. You can try changing servers so steam downloads the updates faster

Please give me a link where to download Napoleon Total War...because when i am installing the game..and it wants cd 1.,....and cd 2...then there is a hole in the installation and it stops...it gives me 3 choices..About , Retry and Cancel i do about it cancels the install....retry doesnt work , cancel either...pls help me,...give me a link or tell me what is the problem
