Default Uncheck Friends Only for Drop-ins Please

I noticed that by default the 'friends only' is enabled when you try to let someone drop-in on your campaign battle. This new feature needs as many people as it can get to work well. Please uncheck this box so I (and others) can actually drop in on campaigns and not just get sent to a BS 'quick battle'

Let's all give this feature the benefit of the doubt and not be exclusionary for now. Pleeeease...

I have a, more or less, related question, I've heard that if no drop in battle can be found, you get matched up against someone looking for one as well, in a quickmatch. Does the game tell you, when no drop in can be found and they'll give you a quickmatch instead?

No, but you can usually tell once you get to the loading screen because the map is one from the list of available custom battle maps.

    Maizel,

No sir the game does not tell you. You can only tell after the map starts loading. If you see two general's names your in good shape. If you see your user name and someone else's user name, you're on your way to BS city quick battle with 5 person units...

For the life of me, how does a quick battle equal a drop-in? Why does CA assume I'm too impatient to wait for what I want?

Don't they give you options to wait for drop in battles?

Itr is the same principle, but I;d be less motivated to do well if I know my battlkes don't actually change anything.

Nope! Seems like a no brainer eh!???

    @GrinningManiac

I am in said club and have yet to join and actual campaign... That's why I'm petitioning to just try being more inclusive to see if our fears are justified and too give this feature a fighting chance to be commonly used. Because if everyone keeps getting thrown into lame quick battles why would anyone even try to drop-in???

A lot of us have joined the NTW Gentleman's Club and the NTW Drop-in Battle group on steam

From their, we've all befriended each other, meaning we now have a massive base of drop-in friends that we can rely on to play honourably and not ragequit or be awful

    Hello,

I am a member of the NTW Gentleman's Club.
How do I become a member of the Drop-in Battle group?

    Thank you.

Sorry but I'm not used to the friends system in Steam and I wanted to ask you: I'm part of this group too as I plan to play drop-in battles (in my and others' campaigns) and I like more pleasant games than "competitive at all cost" ones. However, now that I'm part of the group, do I have to invite every member to be my friend so I can play with them in the drop-in battles?

How does one join the NTW Gentleman's club please? I'm new to this steam profile thing but I'd like to be part of a group for drop-in battles (when my copy arrives) that's more mature and serious than risking it with the general ADHD kiddies.

    Could someone invite me please?

    Yes.
It's what I meant, I don't really want to do this just to get decent battles, my MP single battle experience is fine without playing friends only.

Please don't let your experience with FPSs lead you into false expectations, TW people are a very different crowd. I've come across many 13 year olds here that were more mature than most 25 year olds I met in L4D.
I say try out drop-in without friends only, you can always go back if you do get disappointed.

The reason you have yet to get a battle is because 6 people of said group are on NTW, the rest probably are from th EU...

This feature is gonna die fast if they don't get rid of the stupid quick battles (Make it an option). Hopefully if enough people are playing, we will get a game more often.

Actually, they should work with blacklists (people you don't want to play with anymore) instead of "friends only"...
I suggest you turn "friends only" off as OP says to see if you like the community; I found the MP crowd a very reasonable bunch.
I really don't want to add 250 Steam friends just so I can get a game to drop into.
