Installation problems

Wow, having problems with steam already and the games not even installed. It says it's going to take 8 hours to install it from Disc. I realize steam is being retarded and I've tried to install it from disk in offline mode but it comes up saying "Games cannot be installed in Offline mode". To make matters worse I'm installing it on my little brothers computer at the same time, he'll be done in 10 minutes.

What do I do?
*Edit; And now it's saying, while stating it's installing from disc, that the steam servers are too busy to install the game.....oh god I hate steam...I hate it so much.

Cancel the installation then go back into install and click to repair an install then reinstall... at least that's how I got round it with Empire.

I tried the steam fix for forcing a CD install -
1. Close Steam (File > Exit).
2. Go to the Start button and select Run (XP) or type Run in the Search box and choose Run from the list (Vista).
3. In the Run window type:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.

4. Press OK. Your installation should continue from the disc.

But that didn't work either, I even tried with my little brothers disc since it obviously has the capacity to do it but it won't. Steam is just dead set on installing this game itself, and I refuse to sit and wait for 5 hours when it could install, LIKE IT SHOULD, in 20 minutes or less. /rage

delete steam, install steam from cd them try to install again

come on, someone tell me how to install this f-ing game! 24 hours to install? what are the two disks for then?

dial it down, have you tried to do what I said? delete steam, install from the cd and install ntw?

Thanks for the help MM but I gave up and just let the damn thing install from steam before I had the chance to read that.
