Where did Romans wear their swords?
I was wondering from roughly late republic to lets say the death of Marcus Aurelius on which side of the body did the Roman Legionaires wear their swords. I have heard it was the right side so that they did not hit their shields when they drew their swords, but I have also seen them wearing it on the left side in many movies/pictures and this would also seem logical since most people tend to be right handed. So in the end what is the most historically appropriate side for the Legionaires to wear their swords.

It was worn on the right side (save for officers).
