They're not meant to show up on the campaign map.
So I tried saving as dxt5 explicit alpha instead, just to see the difference--the black squares are gone, but whenever the flag waves, the edges of the flag blur into the transparent part--as if it were a slow motion flip book. It's better than the giant black square, but it's hardly ideal.
Ok in the next turn the Spanish attacked me again and the black squares showed

I turned off volumetric effects (in battle) and they're gone

JFC your flag mods are the best![]()
Well I think that nails it then...
The volumetric effects activate a new effect for the flags, which is conflicting with the transparency I have included, thus causing a black square to show.
What a disappointment. It looks like its going to be back to the squares, but looking like the rectangles. I could do two versions, this but with the caveat of 'no volumetric' selected and the other generic one.
Good lord, I wish someone at CA would give some help here! It's clear to me that one of the items that should be right is the battle flags, which they clearly aren't. This could be a very good mod.
At least for France, it wouldn't look so bad as a rectangle if you used the same standard you use for the flags that float above the units.
It's bizarre that volumetric effects, of all things, are causing the problem. I'll see if I can reproduce that.
I'm not a fan of the 1815 pattern. The one you have currently is the 1812 design, which is nice enough...
But the ones here are the 1804 design, which fit the game better:

You've already got the same basic design on your Kingdom of Italy flags, it just needs the French colors instead, and the replacement of the design in the middle to the one used here.
Yes it's excellent ahd I just turn off volumetric effects in battle when the black stuff shows.
Just one thing, I'm sure the Spanish flag is correct but the Borbon cross one looks better.

I hope you finish this mod soon. Then I download it.

I prefered the rectangle flags.
Most likely historically incorrect but they just looked generally bigger![]()

Chaps, I have finally completed the first patch mod for the flags. (link on first post) Rectangular and in proportion. The new flags can now have the volumetric effects activated. I shall leave the other mods there for now.
What's going on CA?... There are a number of flags you have used which are clearly just a cut a paste job from ETW. Flags which SHOULD have been changed to reflect the period.
