    Default Game performance?

I am curious if the frame rates have dropped with the new eye candy and smoke effects.
Could one of you that has an average machine, and has played the game on your machine comment on your NTW settings and frame rates?

    Thank you.

I have a low end machine. P4 2.8, 2 gigs of RAM and a 256MB 6800GT... the game runs better than E:TW for sure. Even things like the menus seem more responsive; I am used to a 1/2 second delay with Empire whenever I clicked options or somesuch. Quitting a battle or closing the game was fast fast fast too. The battlefield parts seem to have better performance as well using the same settings from E:TW. My game defaults to everything "low" but I change them all to "medium" manually. I did notice that trees seem to have a shorter LOD, my first battle loaded in and I was faced with a wall of 2D trees not far away from the camera. :/ They are probably improved SpeedTree models and therefore need to be drawn poorer closer to the camera.

What I wouldn't give to have a rig like some of you guys have.

I never had crash problems with E:TW. Its maybe only crashed once ever for me. N:TW has not crashed either, but I only played for maybe 30 minutes.

Performance is all around better than ETW. Battle and campaign map is more responsive / less laggy.

I do feel the overall textures are of lower quality in NTW. It's an acceptable trade off for the performance gain though.
