Well since everyone is posting. I wanted to chime in on the nice touches in the battle gameplay. We knew about some and hoped for others but here is what I like and appreciate.

    1) Riderless Horses
    2) Horses dragging riders body
    3) Ground effects of Artillery
    4) Effects of close explosions to inf or cavalry when not killing them.

There maybe more but just some I noticed.

Haven't noticed riderless horses or horses dragging riders, but then again, haven't played more than a couple battles yet.

These sound like awesome touches in fact. Things that show CA is at least making some effort to correct the mistakes and omissions of ETW.

I'm pretty impressed so far. It seems like my roomate is going to have to physically drag me away from the computer if he ever wants to use it!

Yeah Horse dragging bodies is in there. I was zooming in on a horse running away expecting to see no rider as I did before, then I noticed a foot/leg still in the stirrup and sure enough the body was there being dragged all over Gods green earth!

    Awesome!

I like the 'shockwave' effect of explosions. Actually, I wasn't too sure what it was at first, but yeah the new eye candy is nice.

No one else appreciate the banter amongst the soldiers? I think it adds tonnes to the personality of the troops. Feels like you're fielding men rather than wooden personality-less soldiers like in previous games.

I think Napoleon is a big improvement on Empire. It deserves credit in my opinion, although I'll never see why they removed fire by rank! C'mon modders get it back in chop chop!

Yes certainly! I forgot about that I was listening on a British Inf unit, good stuff. I will have to see of the other factions say anything different.

The Frenchies definitely have banter, but I can't understand it. They talk too fast, plus there's like...a battle going on at the same time...

Stupid AI, stay still and complacent while I figure out what these guys are saying!!

I love how the camera shakes when you are close to an artillery shell exploding or a cannon firing. I love how the smoke lingers for a bit. I love the explosion effects when a mortar shell goes off above a line of troops and there are streaks of fire and smoke. I've been very impressed so far.

Yeah, this drives me bananas as well. Anyone know how to turn off the camera shakes?

One problem I saw in my very limited play last night with the horse-dragging-a-guy element was that once the model turns into a horse dragging a guy, it loses all coliders and makes a beeline to some point outside the battlefield. The particular horse + guy in question actually rode (and by rode I mean clipped) through my line without touching my men and also ran straight through an artillery unit which had the wicker fortifications around it.

Spoiled the immersion slightly and would actually rather not see it.

I noticed the same thing, it was interesting to see briefly, but focusing on it ruined it.

Indeed. Presumably, it would do the same with a building... run right through it.

    Is the marching-music faction-specific or just culture-specific i.e. East-West-specific?

Not sure, but I think it is even unit specific...
