Icon4 Readyboost for Windows to run ETW faster

    Hi,

This could be interesting for people with weak PC or laptop.

    Wikipedia:

ReadyBoost is a component of Microsoft Windows, first introduced with Microsoft's Windows Vista in 2006 and also included with Windows 7 (2009). It works by using flash memory, a USB pen drive, SD card, CompactFlash, external hard drive or any kind of portable flash mass storage system as a drive for disk cache.

So you need a Readyboost compatible USB for example and your Windows should be faster.

Maybe you activate it like this:

I don't have any experience with that, but I'll try it out. Maybe someone test it and would write us about his experience.

You activate it by putting the USB stick in a port, going to My Computer, go to the usb drive, select properties and go to the Readyboost tab.

I've used it myself and there was very low to no difference.

yeah readyboost and changing page file size etc will make almost zero difference to your framerate.

doing things like and disk defragger and mainting a clean setup is of course a good thing but the two major things that will affect performance is a CPU (quad-core,more and more games will use quads now) and GPU.

Although you all have forgotten that a ready boost branded usb stick is needed, since the average transfer rate of a usb2 is 20mb/s to less, which is not high in any standards, now try the ready boost with a esata connection and a desktop hd? it will not matter much, since the tech is the limiting factor, the transfer rate is slow compared to RAM, and that should be the measure.

This is like increasing the size of page files in a hd, it is much slower than the memory that he competes.
