    Hi all,

I've just been looking at some rather interesting images and a few of them sparked a flaire in me, which is always bruning whenever I paly a total war game, which is the simple reason why I always play TW games.

What I am talking about of course is wheather your empire's will resemble those of historical ambitions, for example France, will you confine yourself to Spain, Austria, Italy and other historical regions? or will you decide to simply over power Russia, take England and conquer all of the Ottoman empire?.

I as I always do, will be keeping to the historical borders in this game, which is the reason I'm not favouring playing the British over the French, because Britain had litteraly no claims or ambitions on the European mainland, with the exception of Gibralta of course.

Conclusively this leaves only certain factions available. France, Austria and Prussia... with maybe Russia making an appearance in my list. France, in my campaign would resemble what Napoleon intended it to look like, not what it actually did, a figmeant of his actual ambition. It will consist of England, France, Spain, Gibralta all of Italy and honestly all, in what my mind believes the Roman empire resembled, and is what Napoleon wanted.

Further more I may consider unifying Germany, with Prussia, depending if the technoligy allows me to do so, particularily in the naval theatre. I'm not thinking about anything like the first WW, but when and if we get the Uniform Editor, and we can edit ingame units and not just create new regiments I will consider editing them to a later uniform.

A tad of a large read, but what are you all here to do? .

    Thanks for reading .

Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener KG, KP, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, ADC, PC (24 June 1850 – 5 June 1916), was an Irish-born British Field Marshal and proconsul who won fame for his imperial campaigns and later played a central role in the early part of the First World War, although he died halfway through it.

I typically do this for the first month or so. But afterward I just go all free form. That's what I hated with the victory conditions, they made you declare war on someone whether you needed one of those regions or not. Was the best of friends with Russia and Poland as Sweden, had all of Europe and America under my control, but in order to win had to backstab 'em.

Although the new roman empire could be fun.
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

I'm with you. If I'm Britain, I just don't gel with the idea of ruling over the entirety of France - I feel like nationalism has developed sufficiently by this period of time that it wouldn't go well at all for them in a real-life scenario. Instead, in Empire, I kept my conquests to regions that would theoretically remain integral parts of my empire; Italy, Eastern Europe, the Americas and India, etc. etc. Places that were vulnerable due to technological or colonial deficiencies, places that were used to political and national fracture, places that historically underwent several national regime shifts through both diplomacy and warfare. A British Iberia doesn't feel right to me; but a French or Austrian Italy does.

This is why I'll be using the Liberation feature extensively. I think the use of client states is my favorite portrayal of imperialism so far - it feels both accurate and historically plausible. Now, if I'm Britain, instead of capturing Paris and ruling the entirety of France, I'll instead establish a satellite state in Brittany and keep Normandy for myself, to hamstring, but not conquer, France.
