Default Are Mods Really Worth It?

So i'm pretty savy with computers for my age, I've been looking into how to create and how to use mods created by other players. My question is, are they really worth it? Are there any that are amazing for ETW or M2TW? Any suggestions are welcome!

Yes sir they are worth it...

It's just a shame ETW can't be modded as much as MTW2
    Nobody expects the Imperial Inquisition

    Without a doubt!

I just came off from playing DarthMod Ultimate Commander Edition and I said to myself "who needs NTW wiht all its fancy new features? this is AWESOME!"

Seriously, the amount of features that that mod adds is crazy! Everything just looks brilliant and you can tweak all of the different settings to how you want to play your game.

    Definite recommendation

But what are some of the good mods? There are so many out there and it just seems so overwhelming trying to actually pick one. So DarthMod or something?

And Brucedickenson, I love your pic. I'm an absolute lego builder. Brickmaster and all! I always call myself a master lego builder, I have multiple different sets up at a time. Not to change the subject though, hahahh I still want to get some information on the mods

Actually, I have seen a lot on the Imperial Splendour. What is it? Does it have any new factions or is it just some neat new features that are user-friendly?

Sure you know a pyramid. Imagine that: On the top is a single brick. Now turn the whole pyramid on 180 angular degree. Just so, that the single brick, once on top, build the now base.

The single brick is the vanilla version- now answer your question by yourself.
Take your time and have a look at every single brick on your way to explore these seemingly impossible pyramid- they deserve it!

With gratefully and kind regards to all the TW Modders!

I can't imagine going back to vanilla for any TW game. For ETW I played darthmod and IS. In MTW2 I still go back to Broken Crescent and in RTW Europa Barbaorum.

Mods are one of the best parts of the Total War series. Rome: Total Realism was nearly life-changing, Europa Barbarorum reduced me to tears of joy, and Stainless Steel and Third Age (for M2TW) were utterly beastly (also Dominion of the Sword looks is looking amazing). So after a few hours of vanilla ETW, I got Darthmod Ultimate Commander and watched blissfully as massive, more historically accurate units decimated each other in clouds of nicely rendered smoke. You can take that as a recommendation of Darthmod. Also, not to hijack this thread, but could anyone tell me if I can simultaneously install Darthmod and IS without any extra mod managing applications?

Hey so It sound's like IS would be a good place to start from all of the comments. What's it about? Setting? Plot? Factions? Features?

Why not just pick one and try?

I was very impressed with Stainless Steel for MTW2 since it adds a massive campaign map, more units and factions. It even facters in a custom supply line logistics which is easy to understand. It seems perfect and I was always happy with vanilla.

For ETW, I would say Darthmod, but even that cannot fix everything wrong with it. There are still holes.

Might I suggest APE/TI, coupled with AUM, and Luntiks BAI Mod? My personal experience has been exceptionally good, and the Mod team support is awesome. And for an even better experience, include la-de-da brigadier grahams patriot music mod. Good luck, and have fun.

    In a word YES!
Mods make a world of difference, even in ETW which has proved to be really hard to mod.
Even a small mod like "smok and blood" makes such a big difference.

Most people go for Darth's Ultimate Commander. It's really well packaged with lots of options like turns per year, grenades and artillery tweaks etc.
AUM is my personal favorite, it's a skins mod that is compatible with many of the major mods and it adds a lot of units.

Try a few mods and you'll never go back to vanilla!

Hahahh I feel like such a loser, what's a "vanilla" again? I've heard it a couple of times.

"Vanilla" refers to the game as you bought it i.e. unmodified (or unflavoured, if you like).

    In other words, "plain".

    Stainless Steel: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=159996

Was also made alot better by this submod: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=300716
Which is a whole extra experience

    Third Age: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=253976
Is a Lord of The Rings mod. I have not played the recent versions but they just added Balrogs and Ents which is enough of a reason to try it out.

    Broken Crescent: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=346
Has an Eastern focus from the Middle Ages

For Empire I just got it but Darthmod seems to be the most complete one.

Definitely. I care most about unit appearance, so there are ETW mod-reskins that have made the world of difference to me and kept me playing long after I would have shelved it.

My favourites are AUM (which is related to the Ornamentum, a hosted Mod), which adds a ton of cool units and reskins some basic ones, and if you want to play as Britain or the German States of the 7-year war period POM's reskins are superb. And I've also added Sir Digby Chicken Caesar's reskins. All make a massive, massive improvement if you like me hate the half-arse appearance of many of the vanilla units and the lack of variety.

There are loads of great mods for MTW2, "Broken Cressent" and IMO the best "Stainless Steel".

I havenīt really tried any mods for ETW yet, so Iīm following this thread eagerly.
