Default getting 13 colonies to fight

I've just started a new game as Britain and was wondering, will the 13 colonies attack and take land from the native Americans given the opportunity? I've never seen them do anything except get attacked and I'm wondering if I might be able to persuade them to expand their borders, maybe if I give them military technology and money to help them?

They usually do nothing for me, even when I give them all my techs and loads of money. They just seems to want to sit there and play nice until they're rolled into the British Empire.

I have never seen them expand either, but you should give them all the Tech as you get it and what money you can afford.

They will be far stronger when attacked, as they always are, and in a much more advanced state when you take them over.

Technically if you want histrical accuracy, the 13 colonies shouldn't expand. The western frontier was off limits per decree of the king. It wasn't until the 1800's when they expanded after their independence and then it was peaceful by purchasing Louisiana. After their independence, they wanted Canada, but got their capital burned by the British instead.

If the 13 colonies waged war accross AMerica, there would be an uprising claiming historical innacuracies. The population of the Colonies was very small in real life. In 1812 they had 5 million citizens. In the early 1700's they prbably had 1 million or less spread accross an area at least the size of France probably more.

I'm curious why they were off limits

Wouldn't be able to tax them if they couldn't find the people. Didn't want people staking claim to land and depleting resources that were owned by the king. People on the frontier couldbn't be governed. That and it was unsafe. They had arrangements with some Indian tribes and didn't need the colonists doing counter to what the throne wanted.

In my opinion it was less about the taxes (income tax was nonexistant for the colonies, and goods would be taxed when shipped east or back to England). It was that Britain had just got done fighting for 7 years and didn't want to spend the money to protect the settlers. People could go west, and did, it is just they were not under the protection of Britain and so they therefore on their own to defend against natives or French who refused to leave (the latter was not a big problem though). From what I have read, the British did not actively enforce the rule, as that would be very counterproductive as they would be searching for English subjects when they could just be protecting them anyways and arresting and sending them back is expensive. It was, basically, a relatively unenforced law that prohibited colonists from going west of the Appalachians and expecting the protection of England.

I have also heard the plan all along was the wait until land had all been sold up east of the Appalachians, and the to sell the newly acquired Ohio River Valley, as the prices would be far too low for land if they sold it while there was still land available in the east. At that time the selling could have funded protection for the settlers, as well as a large income for the English treasury.

it was proclaimed indian land after the seven years war, for the indian help during the war against the french. Reasons why this were decided as follows.

.Britian wanted a period of Consolidation not expansion
.Worried tribes would become more offensive against the colonies
    .Served a practical purpose
.Not enough troops to puch west

(limits of libirty and oxford history of america )
    hope that clears this up
