I thought I'd start up a thread listing some tactical differences between ETW and NTW. My copy probably won't arrive for another week since I ordered the game from an online store, so if people could add their own observations as they start to play the game tomorrow, I'd love to hear em!
1) Line infantry apparently only have first rank fire-at-will as their firing drill. In one of CA's preview videos, however, you can briefly see platoon fire in action.
2) Line infantry now have 80 range versus 70 in ETW
3) Squares can no longer be formed while in melee, but horses will no longer charge into them, they will stop and rear up on their own. Men in squares will also fire at will, instead of waiting for everyone to reload before firing. This is a huge change!
3) Some artillery units are capable of firing indirectly like a howitzer, yet are also able to use canister/round shot.
4) Smoke on the battlefield is supposed to affect accuracy of units, would appreciate someone commenting on how noticeable this affect is.
