Buying this game will not allow you to play a classic Empire GC with whatever upgrades they do to the BAI?

It's standalone supposedly and the guys at IGN said it was a restricted and small campaign. I don't care about Napoleon and it could be "Burt Reynolds Total War" as far as I'm concerned...I just want this to fix Empire.

This does not change any ETW files.

    Well it is standalone....

But aside from the 2 story campaigns there's a campaign that's focused mainly on a blown-up map of Europe so that's the Grand Campaign.

For accessing the colonies there are multiple trade nodes at their respective location at the end of the atlantic map so Britain could "techincally" still get resources from the colonies so long as they have the ships to maintain it.

Looks like this is the first one I don't buy.

Another animal all together, supposely there is a beta team working on a fix or adjustment to BAI in ETW. Believe it when I see it. No telling when it will be released, if ever. Might have been a marketing ploy trying to sell more NTW units.

I know it's subjective, but is that worth 40 dollars? One of the best parts of the expansions is they add more to the original. I find it hard to justify so soon after Empire with it's noted problems.

    What are you talking about?

Most expansions in TW never added anything to the original ones. Like MTW2, it just added a collage of mini-campaigns to the game and no one complained about those.

If you treat it like MTW2 Kingdoms it's not that much different. (I mean this smells an expansion and is priced as one)

My memory's hazy. When those expansions came out I just focused on them.

Your going to have to give me an actual list with sources.

Yeah, Barbarian Invasion added cool effects and some other things..I think some units.
No that's impossible. They couldn't have added units. Those BI units take place centuries after RTW, there's no way they could even be in there.

As for effects, I recall swimming but that was restricted to just BI and not RTW.

Yeah it's been too long can't remember.

Though even if that's the case not a lot was added to begin with anyways.

her way, the old system kept the original alive, and BAI tweaks etc that occured after the expansions helped the original.
    It doesn't matter.

CA's already working on the BAI for ETW so that makes that point moot.

The other parts your talking about was the result of an unofficial mod that bought items from the expansion into the GC. You can't count that one.

The point is not moot until there is a result, I'm not going to tit for tat with you, the previous expansions kept the old game alive, I've bought every one since 2001 except alexander and I know if they made expansions standalone with different architecture the old games do not see the benefits.

Edit: I don't buy that "it's its own game", it is an expansion.

IIRC Kingdoms didn't add to the original M2 until some CA guy made the Retrofit mod. So you can wait to see if there's another one this time.
