will steam give us pre-load time?is there any offical announcement about this?
Ive asked the same question...Havnt got any answer...Only silence...![]()
The answer is no, there won't be preload, its the decision of Sega and not Steam or CA.
Yeah, exactly- I *nearly* purchased through steam, but when I saw the 15gb and on release day...? forget about it- I do use steam ocasionaly...and I don't mind downloading, etc but not on a release day- unless you want to play it release day + 1 ! OR early hours of the morning...
I don't mind it too much. Its cheaper than getting it in store for me and I don't have to drive anywhere to pick it up. I'll just set it to go in the morning before I leave for work and hopefully it will be done by the time I get back home. If not - it will be done by Saturday morning, which isn't too bad![]()
Sucks for those like me who have a 32:KB/s connection and 15gb requires about 15 days of downloading.
Not that I've bought N:TW, I don't plan to till it only costs 5 bucks.
yeah i am fine with it. my connection is good. steam usually downloads 5 gigs in an hour at home so if i leave my PC on it will be ready after work.
itll download in under an hour for me luckily
Last 2 weeks I have looked into this preload thing. (complained) and I have found out some interesting things about it.
1 its not up to steam.
2. Its up to the Game Company in this case Atari.
3. To have a preload it cost money for the company. IE they have to PAY Steam to do it.
4. Atari is to cheap to do it that way. (they didn't do it for AVP either)
5. Only game I have had that had preload was Mass Effect 2.
I, too, was very sad to hear there would be no one-day-before-release dowloading. It was really nice to have the game all ready to go as soon as it was unlocked.![]()
This is really rather unfortunate. I went ahead and preordered through Steam anyway--hope it won't come back to bite me. My connection is fast on my end (got DA through Impulse in 2 hours) so as long as Steam's servers are solid, it shouldn't be too bad.
I just hate the last second wait. Months I can handle: but the last 24 hours are killer.
Ouch. That's a big install.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.![]()
