    Try disabling the UAC.

Is your dvd-rom a new one? Is it a Blu-Ray?

hello again. i have finally managed tofix this problem and i'll post here as i'm sure many others have run into it.

my dvd drive, made by samsung, was basically unable to deal with the copy protection code. i tried updating the firmware for the drive but no success. this was happening on many other of my games in DVD format. in the end, i decided to cut my losses and buy a new DVD drive (LiteOn Light scribe). i have now managed to install this awesome game.

HOWEVER (lol), because its typical me, i still have a very little problem (oo-er missus). when i try to unlock all factions, when i cut and paste the unplayables into the playables when i try to save it, it says access denied. i'm using windows 7 64b professional. any ideas?

The file may be read-only: Right-click on the file, select "Properties", and uncheck the read-only box.

As one mother found out trying to keep her son out of her programs, she had to give him ownership to the Sega folder for him to save games and edit files. Since I am the only one on my computer, I just disable the UAC and log in as administrator.

I am experiencing this problem...I have been able to run M2TW in the past but have been using Kingdoms for a long time (TATW, DLV etc etc)
I wanted to move back to BC but found this error message when I tried to run the mod.
I then tried to run the game resulting in the same error message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but I'm facing the same problem.

Running vista on my laptop, so replacing the drive isn't as easy

    Be very grateful of advice/help

Log in as Administrator, set the BC icon to run as Administrator, disable the UAC, and run in XP SP3 compatibility mode.

It doesn't even run the vanilla game though, so why would it run BC?

That makes sense. BC is not mdfoldered. If BC installed correctly, it's all you are playing. If it did not install correctly, you are not playing either without reinstalling everything.
Will BC admit to it? No.

BC won't admit it, because that's not true, dear sir.

I have BC on my computer since 2008 without any break. BC isn't completely mod-foldered, true, but that's not a problem, because strat map models, which don't go into mod folder, don't overwrite anything, because they are BC-specific files. And I know what I'm saying, because I'm looking at these files right now.

It is also possible to have other mods installed along BC - some other mods (like DLV, TATW, DaC, For King and Country, Chivalry II, Thera) that go into "mods" folder will work with BC installed. I've tried all these mods during last year.

I also have Vista and I also have laptop - and BC runs smoothly without any additional mumbo-jumbo. My advice for Coeur de Lion is to install the game on second partition (not on "C:"!) and, as it was said already - to turn off the UAC.

You can also try the newest BC installer prepared by Sean Cappone. I haven't checked it out yet because I'm having some problems with the Internet connection, but the man knows his job, so new package should make BC installation much easier.

So...partition the drive then attempt to install M2TW there?

I should probably create a system restore before I do this right?

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear...
Its an completely unmodded, vanilla install of M2TW which will not run. Kingdoms is installed, and that runs perfectly.

Vista is a ploblem child. when I had Vista and Medievl2/kingodms on it, was make sure the UAC was disabled before I even installed the game the second time. Getting burnt once by the UAC was enough. I logged in as Administrator. I gave my login full onership over the C: drive where it's installed. The first problem Vista threw up, I check the Run as Admin box in the icon. When install it, nothing else is going on on my computer. I even block the internet connection to slow down ay autoupdaters I could not find to disable.

If it is a clean install, is it just Medieval2 or with the patches on the Kingdoms disc? Or is it a download copy?

Have you this month done some disc maintenance like uninstall and delete any programs you don't use anymore and defrag your harddrive?

I'm using disc version of M2TW plus Kingdoms...all clean install

I've tried everything I can find to solve this but nothing seems to work. To be clear, kingdoms works fine...I just can't start normal Med2 using my discs as I get the message 'please insert correct disc, click ok and restart the application'
I have even replaced my original copy of med2 only to be faced with the same problem.

I'm pleading for help on this one!!
