I just got a call from my gamestop where I pre-ordered my game, a recorded call telling me that the game is coming in soon!

But NOT until the 24th!! The game I thought was coming out the 23rd!

I checked the website, and gamestop.com still says the 23rd.

I checked steam, and their digital countdown still say the 23rd.

To doublecheck I called the store, and he said the 24th just as the call had.

What the heck is going on?!?

Yes, I am overreacting, but still.

Typically it takes a day to ship. Only very big release games tend to arrive on the ship date (Halo, Call of Duty, etc). There's a possibility it may come in on the 23rd but I would call to make sure.

Shipped the 23rd. If you overnight it you will get it the 23rd or steam. If not then stores will get it the day after. The 24th.

This is usual ball and chain with release days.

My game was sent out on the 18th apparently. I'm guessing it's got to arrive tommorow, and so I'm going to have to be at home, and so it had better come tommorow. I don't think there's a delivery service available to have it take longer between sending it and it being received. I guess this counts as delivery service woes. Its delivery service indeterminacy in any case.

Its 26th if you're in Europe...only 23rd for USA. If your from USA, that sucks- from Europe, them you'll get in time for release.

In the UK it says its released on the 26th February on the Amazon UK website.
Also Amazon are selling NTW for £17.71 inc free delivery from their
preferred merchant Indigofishstarfish.com based in Jersey on the Channel
    Islands.
Apparently Amazon do an Import duty and VAT dodging service using Channel
    Island suppliers.

Why is it at £17.71 well:
Indigostarfish.com prices do not include VAT because: (a) the State of Jersey does not charge VAT on products purchased in Jersey; and (b) when products are imported into the UK, VAT is usually payable in the UK by the importer of record (the customer is considered the importer of record in respect of items purchased from Jersey). However, there are special tax and customs regulations that exempt personal imports of 'low value' goods (goods with a value below £18) from import VAT.
The only downside is it can take anywhere between 3 to 5 days for it to arrive in England from the Channel Islands.

gamestop where I am hasn't given us a ring yet-so we'll see. It all depends on how close you are to distribution centers, and as already stated how important that game is. I recall Empire was there nice and on time-but that's because it was supposed to be the game of the century. Napoleon by Gamestop standards is a bit below this. Also, even if the game is supposed to be delivered day of (23rd) sometimes it just never gets on the van-and the people at the individual stores just have to get what they get, and stock it. Its just the way the system works.

Gamestop seems to fail at understanding how pre-orders work. They seem to never have the "codes" and additional items...for anything. Unless it's a console game they have no concept of what is going on, like they're forcing people to use their website instead, or digital distribution.

...now...usually they do releases on a Tuesday - so it better be there.

Lol you just reminded me about something-

When ETW came out Gamestop was having the same bonus for the Special Forces Edition as Steam was-getting RTW Gold. When I went in they didn't know about it, but had to tell them to go on their website and check. Then they couldn't find RTW Gold, until after 5 minutes checking in the back room. It was a busy day when I went in though.

Busy day or not, we all have busy day's of employment. The sole purpose for the existence of the store is to sell video games, and they allow laziness to cloud capability; from time to time. Not ALL of them, but the incidents of failure, have been epic failure.

Hell, when I went to reserve N:TW the chick told me it was already out. I spent about ten minutes of non-flirtation communication explaining how Empire and Napoleon are different games.

"But they're made by the same company, right...?"

She got some kudos for recognizing a t-shirt I was wearing, I will have to return and pursue this gaming maiden further.

gamestop usually screws up pre-orders. i just preordered from steam. seems the best way to go as they are the ones in charge of unlocking the game.

I did the same as who knows whether my local store will get their shipment on time. I like being able to download it as well and don't want extra cases taking up space.

    I'm thinking...Silent Hunter IV.
That should keep me busy until I hear how the BAI is.
If its acceptable, I will buy NTW. It Will be very difficult NOT to buy NTW ASAP.
I will give it my best effort.

    24th ? You're lucky mate. The place I pre-ordered from has told me it won't be dispatched until the 26th...The 26th !!!

That means with our wonderful UK Postal Service I probably won't see my Limited Edition NTW box before the 30th.

Ouch. Ah well, at least there'll be plenty time for a spot of tea before the battle begins.
