lol Who's going back to E: TW aswell....

Hello one and all, well I my self.. and me, were just wondering if anybody was planning on going back, and forth, to Empire once you have bought Napoleon total war.

Napoleon looks great.. empire.. isn't. Empire is like a painting you did, badly, then you did another one which is entirely better, better ink, paper and generally a better theme.. empire is like the picture of the lurry you did when you were 5 >_>... not to good to put it nicely.

Thus the question, which I have asked, just how many of you will be playing empire? even you modders who have big mods planned, like the ww1 mod or victorian mod, because N: TW has a much better appeal now I think, unfortunately it isn't as large as E: TW, geographically, but space wise it is.

So post a comment and tell me what your plans are .

If the AI is improved in NTW, there really would be no reason to go back to ETW.

I started playing ETW again. With a few choice mods included.
The thing I don't care for in NTW, but I understand why its not in there, is that there is no Ottoman Empire for campaign game. I like the Ottoman Empire because it is unique. And no I am not a Turk.

The real selling point for me was that Napolean Total War was going to augment Empire but now that its not... I don't know if its worth buying. I will wait for user reviews. I am definitely not gonna jump up and pre-order like I did with ETW.

exactly the same here, i think its ridiculous the ottomans arent playable in SP at all in NTW and im not a Turk either but you are right - they r the most interesting and fun faction to play because they are so unique in comparison to all the euro factions. So, for the same reasons i will still play empire.

Where did you here that it isn't going to augment Empire? That was the only selling point for me like it was for Kingdoms augmenting M2. I'm not really a fan of episode style campaigns like N:TW is.

Check the sticky at the top of the forum under "Confirmed Info", there should be a note at the bottom that points out that it won't retrofit ETW. I'll pull up the CA statement on it. I told them that they needed to make a large public announcement in order to inform everyone, but they never did.

Just finished reading that post... And I'm not disquested with CA for the first time. The absolute least they could do is give us the mod tools for Empire. Sense they are "done" with it and it's now on the modders to actually finish it.

As for Napoleon, I'll play it, just so I don't feel like I wasted my money. After a week or so when I get bored with it I'll set it aside and hope that someone can figure out how to do a retrofit mod like was done with Kingdoms.

Really? Have you played it?

ETW takes place in a much better time period (in my opinion), and includes a much larger geographical area than NTW. So I think I'll throw in my lot with ETW.

I actually tried going back to Empire last night but I uninstalled it straight away when I relised I would have to wait a couple of hours for the patches and Darthmod to download. I'm just impatient like that .

Oh god no, never go back to ETW. I simply hate the period and army uniforms they wore then. Napoleon looks leagues and bounds better than ETW and is my favourite period to play in.

I agree in some ways, I truthfuly have no concern about AI, because I can see how hard it would be to create an effective intelligence unit, but aslong as the game looks smooth and sharp then theres no problems... empire didn't, and in some ways napoleon fails here too... jsut look at the dam muskets and bayonets for a start! and then the ships, they don't look that.. good.. they look... shabby to be frank.

I think i like Napoleon a bit more than Empire in things of gamemechanics, the look and the bigger european map, but the szenario of empire is more interesting for me, but the presentation is bad... a seven years war like the napoleon campaign would be a dream. The theme is also not so worn out like the napoleonic wars...

Of course, I bought the game, I enjoyed it, so I'll play it.

I'll obviously try out the upcoming BAI patch, but unless there's a retrofit mod I doubt I'll be going back that often. I've already played the ETW campaign front and back, and pretty much tried out all the tricks I could find. As for battle side, after seeing those new NTW vids I'm again reminded of how unpolished and toy soldier-like ETW's battles are. There really isn't much left in there at this point, unless CA give back mod support.

I'm bored with ETW, played it for quite a while. If CA does release a patch for BAI and other things (which changes things) then I'll go back and play a little bit.

I've never gotten through an E: TW campaign it's so bad... it really is an ugly game.. and i'm not talking about the BAI or CAI.. just what they made it look like...

Yeah I agree, I went back to ETW to get me in the mood for NTW but after 2 weeks I realised why I stopped playing it and uninstalled ETW
Napoleon would need some good reviews from you guys for me to be tempted
