    Default Starting problems

Before Empire would run on my computer with no problems. Now, once it gets past the initial "Empire: Total War" screen an Empire.exe screen pops up and forces me to close or debug. I've delete it and reinstalled a number of times and I tried to back up the flies and reinstall it but nothing. Any help.

*Note, I tired installing a proper empire and I did move around a few files. I'm worried that that might be the problem.

Delete all mods, and the scripts folder, and have your game cache integrity checked in Steam.

Make sure it works, then install mods and move files.

^ This is what I found

1- you will need to donwload ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com)
2- uninstall the game and steam, standard procedure.
    3- reboot
4- go to the %appdata% ( put this in the search) and delete the creative assembly folder and the steam folder.
5- use ccleaner to clean up the registry, and while doing that clean up the pc as well.
    6-reboot
    7- install ETW and steam.
I just did 1-3. I tired to do 4 but when I searched it on my comp I couldn't find it, so I assume it's cleared. I'm doing 5 now. So when this is all done it should work right?

    Thanks a lot!

Time says that it's not good enough.

I followed the directions above and the same still happens.

4- go to the %appdata% ( put this in the search) and delete the creative assembly folder and the steam folder.

that was the crucial step. in here you will find the script files that says to the game whats to be loaded, since you tried installing ati:pe this is the file that's affecting you, you can try this path:

    C:\Users\Makoto\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire

now change makoto to your username

I did it for the second time now. It's apparent that I'm overlooking something but I can't seem to find it.

I'm considering wiping my computer and trying it again.

But I have a friend with the original copy on a CD. Do you think If I install it through a CD and trying to put it on steam will work?

Before you do the dvd, for your own sanity, go do the steps, again, including #4, to give yourself a clean place to start.
