Default Why Is Brutal Difficulty and Unfairness Recommended?

I've seen numerous recommendations to use Hard/Very Hard for this, but wait, that gives the AI immense stat bonuses. Shouldn't the focus be to improve AI intelligence, not buff them to the point that AI Town Watch can slaughter Player Knights?

Also, in Normal Battle Difficulty/Normal Campaign Difficulty balanced?

This has been discussed many times before. Modders can only improve the AI so far because they can only change so much. They're not editing the core of the AI system, just the very top layer. So even with the very best AI possible, it will still have the intelligence of a dog turd and there needs to be other systems put in place to try to compensate (i.e. garrison scripts, money scripts etc).

And FYI, hard and very hard settings dont get the AI immense stat bonuses. Just a bonus to morale.

The vanilla AI in MTW2 Kingdoms is already pretty good as is.

Morale boosting has the same effect; regardless of any other factors, if you send 150 troops up against 150 identical AI troops, yours will always rout first.

Oh you're serious Modders have dramatically improved the AI over vanilla, both campaign and battle.

The AI wasn't incredible, but it was slightly intelligent at the least. It did some impressive flanking maneuvres at times.

Hummmm..., If I may...What about the human player's contribution to the mix. Role play. If we give the AI a chance then jacking the difficulty to the moon isn't required. Now for those that wish to rush and wipe the board clean in 50 turns or less.....

Ya get what you pay in terms of satifaction...bubcuss...

And it still does. More frequently in my experience too.

So what are your suggestions on improving the difficulty if we can't do it through A.I? If you don't like it, keep it at medium but you're going to get the same A.I.

    In other words turtle.

Ah, it's what I do most of the time too. Makes things a bit more interesting when they actually get a chance to develop. You'll still beat them on the battlefield but there'll be more to beat

Only stat bonuses are some extra experience and morale for AI units.

Ya it's Warhammer week at Tale of the week, So I'm trying to get into the spirit... Click on my sig and come check it out...

OT: In all sincerity it is my belief that the human player is 50% of the equation. If we don't give the AI adequate time to develop, then the fault lies squarely upon us....

Even the campaign is unair. How can Rebels get English Knights and Gwent Raiders right at the start when it takes at least 20+ years for the player to do so? Why are Gwent Raiders invincible?

The problem is the developers assume everyone who plays this mod is a hardcore pro, which isn't the case. Giving the AI so many stat and unit advantages really isn't necessary.

That's why there is an easy and a medium difficulty setting.

Gwent raiders suck Charge them with your bodyguard and they'll all die.

This mod is for Total War players looking for a challenge. Even on VH/VH if you don't blitz and don't abuse alliances (and I never do those, it's easier after), you'll get a lot of fun and challenge, but you can still kick their asses somewhat easily. It boils down to some epic battles for new teritory and when you hit your empire's 'critical mass' (e.g. 10 cities / 2 castles), you're most of the time unstoppable. Now you can't lose the game no matter what you do, but you'll still have a lot of fun (and challenge) trying to conquer the other remaining powerful & maybe high tech factions.

I think I'll play just one more hard Late Era Campaign (don't know yet which factions are the hardest) and then move to RR/RC for some serious challenge.. I hope .

i think that the best way to improve AI battle tactics is to improve out their army composition. Its relatively easy to beat a full stack of siege weapons and militia with a well balanced halfstack of professionals. because i cant even mod a banana i have no idea how hard it would be, but making factions play more to their strengths and include a decent amount of cavalry would greatly improve how the AI can perform in battles.

Seriously, if you want a challenge you should install RR/RC immidiatly. Campaign with RR/RC is about two times more difficult than without it.

True. Even I have to think before I do something with RR/RC. Even 6.2 VH/VH could not provide the same challange (as VH/VH RR/RC).

Oh, and RuleBritannia, VH/VH is only recommended when someone askes for a challange.

I only downloaded this MOD because it is tough and the MODDERS have tried very hard to make it a challenge yet keep it fair for all.

    A job well done.

I find it does have some small holes and bumps in the road ,but, overall it is the best mod on ANY site I have ever tried.

For those children that wish an easier game ... and can not figured out how change the setting in the menu ... there are other mods just a click away on this site.
