Will We Be Able to Restore the Bourbons as France?

I'd like to know if we could start a revolution as France to restore the Burbons. If other factions can have revolutions than why not a French "Anti-Revolution"? Also, will the new troops be wearing white, I wonder. I'd hate to see Royalists marching in Republican Blue!

If ETW is a precursor-anyone I remember seeing a revolt in texas waving the stars and stripes while rebelling against the natives-and I had my own us army their as well

Would be awesome. We should be able to help King Louis back on the throne of sacred France.

i believe when the story starts King Louis has already lost his head, but there where alot of other Burbons that fled France i dont see why they couldnt re claim the throne.

Well I wonder what happens when Britain for instance conquers France and liberates it? Who will be listed as the head of state. I assume that the monarchy will automatically be restored and a Louis XVIII will appear.

If they have the same regime physics as in ETW, then I don't see how. You already have the Republic and Napoleon's Empire. But I can't say I care much at all, considering if I get the game I'll see that the French First Republic shall remain an Eternal Republic!

Well, if that's an option then I'll consider buying the game. As I said in another thread, the brute Napoleon and his vile Jacobin predecessors managed to destroy the noble civility of society and warfare, and it was never the same again.

yes let's restore Louis XVI and completely remove the major source of conflict that the game is based on, not to mention the thing that the game is named after. Otherwise, I will not buy bourbon total war!!!

Ignoring that obnoxiously long space, the Total War series is not purely historical. It's "alternative history." Same with the EU series and Civ. If I want to overthrow Napoleon and put Louis (it would be the XVIII; XVI and XVII would already have been wrongly murdered) back on the throne, then I should be able to. And I believe a Grand Campaign will be included in NTW that lets you play as the Coalition forces against the French... why not be able to initiate a civil war as France and side with the royalists (as was an option in ETW)?

Well apparently the brutalized peasants didn't think the society was all that nobile or civil. The Jacobins were rabid dogs though on that we agree. Napoleon was a mixed bag.

The Revolution was fueled by the ambitious bourgeoisie class, who agitated the urban lower classes into revolt. In fact, many poor farmers and rural members of the working class supported the monarchy.

They'll probalbly make it so that it looks like Napoleon was "spared" by the Royalists because of all the victories he's won, regardless of if he could be considered a barbaric revolutionary.

In one of the new trailers it showed revolutionary french troops firing on white uniformed, white wig wearing soldiers(they weren't the Spanish). I am pretty sure they were royalist troops. I hope if France is liberated by a coalition member then the monarchy will be restored, because that is what happened in 1814/15 anyway.

Optimist answer: Maybe.

Realist answer: Probably not.

I wonder if the war in the Vendée will make an appearance... or the Chouannerie... probably not. ;_;

On the other hand, all this would make a great task for the modding gods: The Revolutionary Wars 1792-1797. Don't we have everything we need?

• A map of Europe
• Uniforms for Revolutionary France
• Foppish ancien régime uniforms for the rest of Europe
• The game mechanics for unrest, revolts and revolutions

With all that, a pre-Napoleonic mod seems possible - including the anti-revolutionary revolts in France.

They probably have the ability to "liberate" france and create a shadow faction if you capture paris as a coalition member. Not necessarily killing the revolution right then and there, but certainly dealing it a solid blow.
