Owl City - Fireflies

Most of my friends love this song. It's got load of requests on the radio over the last while, people seem to love it. I totally hate it. I find it so bloody annoying.

The tune isn't too bad, but it's kind of, well, dopey is the only word I can think of to describe it. The video for it is just retarded, and the singer isn't great and, even though it doesn't make a difference, looks wierd. The thing that really gets to me though, is the lyrics. They're actually like nails on a chalkboard to me.

It sounds like they tried to make song sound really deep and meaningful, but instead came away making no sense at all. After hearing this song, I now realise that the phrase, "the lyrics make no sense" is overused. Most songs make some sort of sense or have relevance to something, this song doesn't. It just makes no sense at all

This song is played on the radio non-stop here and is incredibly annoying.


Oh, and the lyrics make me think of an acid trip. Maybe its a hidden message about drugs?

This song is absolutely ...I can't understand why it's on so ing much.

The top 10 is simply awful now, only last week did Jedward reach number 2 in the charts, with Owl City (bland, boring, shocking) Glee (I don't like musicals but its just a musical catastrophe) and that bloody Iyaz - replay, if he got any cheesier he would get stalked by mice.

This a typical example of failing music. The lyrics make no sense at all, there's no message in it and the tune just sucks donkey bollocks.
A lot of modern music is like this; people can get famous by copying and raping ancient songs without them being talented at all.. *thinks of Jonas Bro's*

A lot of non-alternative music (so, music that is not Rock, Metal, Punk or in any sense alternative) is just bad music. Lady Gaga, Jonas Bro's, Miley Cyrus, Owl City, Kanye West, you know, all the crap that's in the top charts around the world. It is bad because it is uninspired, passionless music; the artists are only into making music because they want to be rich (and famous). For example, most punk musicians didn't care about their music, they cared about the message they wanted to send out, they didn't care for fame and money.

It may not have much real meaning but its crazily catchy
still theres a lot worse music around at the moment (Lady Gaga and La roux)
but anyway I could rant a lot about them lol

I quite like La Roux actually, but then they are only just in the mainstream (which is always the best type of mainstream of course.) To be honest most of the rubbish chart music we get (in Britain anyway) comes from America; most of the British bands I can think of are either quite good or are very different in a way that you could see some people liking them. Maybe it's because in Britain we only ever hear the most popular music from America (which is also the worst) and miss some of the lesser known bands from America which are really good- although for some reason I doubt this. Of course there is plenty of crap in music terms that comes from Britain, namely things like JLS and Girls Aloud (which both came out of X factor- coincidence? I doubt it). The best music is almost invariably the lesser known stuff.

Then of course there's the phenominom that I sometimes experience whereby I actually like a song unit I hear it being played on someone else's phone or Ipod, but that could just be me.

no, you guys miss the good ones, although sometimes they get though.

to be honest, i like the song. yeah the lyrics are but the tune is pretty good.

Well I know I'm being pedantic but according to Wikipedia La Roux is actually made up of two people (one of which only plays the synth.) So it should be a "they" rather then a "she". Everyone makes that mistake, but then you can see why.

As for Lady Gaga, I actually quite liked Just Dance and Poker face, but all of her more recent releases have been awful.

I think she is rather talented. She was great at the Brits i thought.
