I quit building computers....well, not really...
...but have graduated to hot rods and race cars.
I hadn't posted in here in a while. So long that it seems my mod powers have been stripped.
It's cool though because the basement crowd is usually pretty well behaved...I just thought I'd see what you guys were up to and if anyone had burned the place down yet.
So what have all the old school basement freaks been doing? I don't even know what the cool kids are running these days. I'm still running a AMD 5400+ Black @ 3.0 and 9800GTX+. But hopefully you guys can forgive me for that as what I'm "overclocking" these days is WAAAAAAY faster.
But I still have my roots here in the TWC basement and am building a nice little CarPC. Which kinda goes the opposite way of what most PC enthusiasts go for. Small form factor mini-ITX's, the least amount of computing power possible, but enough for smoothness and to reduce heat, touchscreens, 12V transformers, etc...
It's a LOT more complicated and challenging, which = more fun for me since I've done the whole high-end overclocking/nitro cooled thing...been there, done it, bought the T-shirt, wore it out, and donated it to Goodwill. And with the fact that most of the parts are relatively low-powered versions of the stuff most of us use, it's CHEAPER!
I won't be running ETW at any decent rates, but so far it does run WoW and RTW pretty decently. And I don't care who likes Wow or doesn't. The fact that I can play it from the dashboard of my car makes it pretty awesome!
Anyway, just thought I check in, share my latest project and see what everybody else is up to.
