An Idea...

Hey guys, I thought of this idea today and I quite liked the thought of it, so without further ado; here it is!

So, perhaps say, ever year your national leader can take a 'tour' round your empire, kind of like how the British monarch takes tours around the Commonwealth, and the King/Queen/President etc appears as like a crown or something on the minimap. Every turn the National Leader gets to a new city in your empire and their precense their dramatically increases population happiness, so everything's now hunky dory, but here's the catch . Your leader can be asassinated on their little 'tour', like a Franz Ferdinand situation; if the asassination suceeds then I'm not too sure what would happen, but I was thinking maybe an automatic War of Succession or something else maybe (feel free to comment on what you think should happen) and if it fails then maybe the faction who sent the rake gets a huge diplomatic penalty with not only you, but the rest of the world, or you go to war with them.

What's everyone think of this? Feel free to comment on the idea below, I'd really appreciate feedback.

I like it. Kind of like in Rome. I could send my faction leader to a settlement and the public unrest would go down.

How are you going to do it? A new mod, because there other things that can be included...

I love ideas like this. Anything to add to the role-play. It makes me want to go to college, and become a computer expert.
I wish your king --or your Queen! ---could be added to your army as a morale booster, like the band units in Brigadier Graham's drummer mod, or like Germanic Screeching women in RTW.
Oh, I wish we still had the Pope, the Inquisition, and Papal elections for the Catholic Factions.
I wish we still had --a variation of --- wonders, like the French can build Versailles, or Le Petite Trianon,
St. Petersburg already exists as a city in the game, but, I don't know, they could build it up somehow.
Yes, there are special palaces and musuems in the game, but they could have done so much more with it.
In MTW2 I really enjoyed chasing down a certain Portuguese princess ( the one in my avatar ) and then watching the wedding movie.
They could have kept princesses, the wedding movie, and added an additional romantically suggestive wedding night addition to the wedding movie.

People commonly b**ch on this forum that after 10 battles or so it gets boring. But then when you make suggestions like these they promptly turn around, roll their eyes, and their reaction is, "WTF? ! "

The game needs a fantasist, a real fantasist, somebody who can fantasize outside the box . ( not another LOTR fantasist. sheesh, LOTR has been conventional since 1978. )
Or maybe it needs a woman's touch ?

Actually, the first royal tour of Canada was that of Prince William, the future William IV, in 1786. The first visit by a reigning monarch was that of George VI in 1939.

I meant the territories of the United States of America. Sorry for not being clear. And I also meant a reigning monarch.

I never understood why you couldn't assassinate enemy members of government, anyway...
but I don't know why you would force a "tour around the country", why not have advantages come with it to let the player decide?

Here's what I would do, based on your idea:
You can keep your king in your capital; this way, he doesn't have any effect and can't be assassinated (current ETW behaviour basically).
But: you can have him travel from province to province, one per turn (like troop movement in TW prior Rome).
If he stays in one of your provinces, he adds to region happiness and maybe economy;
if he stays in a province belonging to another faction, your popularity there grows and diplomacy with them is easier.
In both cases, enemy rakes can assassinate him.

Well, I think that if it was a newly taken settlement or a city where resentment against the gov is very high, then the public disorder might go up because the dislike the monarch.
