Dont understand why you people even listen on companies like this. You always claim they get paid to give a good review anyway. So just wait until a few buys it and then see their opinion in here.

IGN also gave ETW a 9.5
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.

I also feel compelled to state that ign reviews are largely useless... as are indeed most reviews in general, as much as I like ETW after 5 patches and modification - it probably deserved a 2.6 at release, and a 7.8 at patch 1.5; with all the modifications I use and create for the game I'd probably give it an 8.9. In my view if you're gonna read reviews strike off atleast 4 from the review then apply a margin of error of + or - 3 to whatever score you get, and go from there; the only true way of getting a feel for how good a game is is to try the game or a demo of it, player reviews are rarely any more accurate or reliable.
