Sexxxy shields for Dale, Dwarves, Rohan, and possibly Eriador

Who here has seen the shields that Leif_Erikson did for the Vacuus Lux Lucis mod? If not here they are:

These are beautiful! I think the shields in TATW are great also. I just wanted to draw attention to these works of art in case the TATW modders were looking for some diversity (if Leif would give permission). The northmen and dwarves came to my mind as I looked at these so I thought I'd say something...

There are no Vikings in the Third Age

So actually TATW is no place to be for a Viking!

Although I have to admit, the celtic designs would fit quite well with the Northmen and Dwarven cultures in TATW!

I wasn't aware the Viking element was not part of it. Thanks for letting me know. I still think there are some neutral shields that would just look great. Oh well, if nothing else Leif_Erikson made some great looking skins.

I agree that they are very well done and detailed but i think they would work with the dwarves, dale and maybe a few could go with Rohan...

harad has aztec shields... why not the pirates take viking?

Although they are well done, most of Leifs Shields aren't really inventive: They follow the same basic patterns: celtic symbols and swastika-like crosses and lines in many variations all over the place...

But on taking a second closer look, I really think some elements of the shields would fit nicely in TATW (and some not only for the Northmen/ Dwarven cultures! Yes, even for the Corsairs! Althouh I still wouldn't give them Viking shields

):

for the Elves: shields with delicate carvings (e.g. 3rd row from bottom, 2nd +3rd shield; 4th row from bottom, 1st)
for Rohan: simple shilds with animals in green/brown colours (e.g. 11th row from top, 1st, 2nd +3rd shield)
for Dale: simple shields with animals in bluish colours (e.g. 8th row from top, 4th shield)
for Mordor: shields in black and red (e.g. 15th row from top, 4th shield; 16th row, 1st)
for Isengart: shields in black and white
for Harad: shields with ornamental halfmoons (e.g. 11th row from top,4th shield; 16th row from top, 3rd + 4th)
for the Dwarves: shields with runes or celtic crosses

At least some of these shields could bring a bit diversity to TATW!
So if the "shieldmasters" of TATW see this: Please take a look at those designs!

Thats alot of shields :O and yeah i see some dwarf and dale potential in those they are all really nice, though i wouldnt give them to mordor or isengard, i dont think round shields are their thing..

I really don't think that Orcs would care, what size their shields have!
On the other hand: the wooden shields of the Orcraiders and Orcbands already look cool now. So I'm not proposing to alter them! But maybe Orclooters or future orc units could use roundshields?

And for Isengart: I would definitely leave the Uruk-Hai shields as they are; but Dunlending Clansmen already have round shields! Why not a few variations of round shields for them?

Tolkien took his ideas from Norse Mythology as well as from Greek/Roman and Jewish mythology, and god knows from where else!

But that doesn't mean the cultures Tolkien created in his works have to be depicted as cultures of the real history.
Each of them is unique, a fantasy creation of their own.
The Rohirrim are NOT Vikings; and Gondor is NOT Rome.
Even if film-directors and modders choose to let them look like them!

But this thread was about the shields...
