    Default Sorry, I Missed It

    What's up everyone?

Well just a couple questions and I was hoping someone would be able to help me with them.

I got put on to mods about a month ago and I was playing EB v1.2 for about 4 weeks. And now I'm starting to wonder about what's next...I know they have EB 2 in the works...but I was looking for something with a later time period. Through skimming the archives I found the link to this forum after reading that EB players actually play this mod due to it's historical accuracy and entertainment factor.

Now just from what I've picked up there are quite a few different versions of this mod out there. I've been to your site and after reading I still have some very basic questions that haven't been answered, and I was hoping that this is the moment you come in to help.

My first group of very basic questions are: What is the difference of the various versions of the mod? Is it different campaigns? There is a Barb-centric mod, A Roman mod, and an eastern mod? Is there a grand campaign? Can you provide me with a quick breakdown of each mod and it's significance and compare and contrast them?

I've noticed there is a M2TW version of the mod and a BI version of the mod...which is more "complete" or polished? Is the mod "EB" in style and game play? Is this a good mod for an avid EB player?

I'm basically asking these questions because I don't want the "Download and try it" response. I don't have the time nor computer space to download these mods and try each of them out.

I suppose basically what I'm looking for is a grand campaign style of play, with all factions available and a balanced and fair mod. Basically if EB were to make a mod in the later Roman period...would this be the one?

Thank You, and I appreciate your time and effort put into this thread.

P.S. As much detail as possible would be most helpful.

Basically the different versions cover the same geographical area, just of a different time period. Imperium Julianaorum covers the Emperor Julian's life, Rio's mod covers the very last days of the Western Roman Empire, and the 'Generic' version covers time period around when the Goths sacked Rome.

I've noticed there is a M2TW version of the mod and a BI version of the mod...which is more "complete" or polished? Is the mod "EB" in style and game play? Is this a good mod for an avid EB player?
M2TW version just the next step for this mod, and is currently in a Beta. I wouldn't recommend playing it until you've played this game on RTW. The BI version of any given mod is just the same mod using the BI .exe which promotes AI use of ships among other things.

Out of all of the mods I prefer Imperium Julianorum myself, and that's what I suggest you try. In relation to EB none of the IBFD mods have the same sort of historical depth as EB, but they do the best they can. Names of units aren't in their authentic native language, and there aren't the wealth of audio files that EB offers, but by and large IBFD is the most historically accurate and well put-together late-era Roman mod out there.
