I don't know if this has been posted up before. I saw some of these as posters at museums in Romania this summer. Look around, see what you like.

"Mors Certa, Hora Incerta."
"We are a brave people of a warrior race, descendants of the illustrious Romans, who made the world tremor. And in this way we will make it known to the whole world that we are true Romans and their descendants, and our name will never die and we will make proud the memories of our parents." ~ Despot Voda 1561
"The emperor Trajan, after conquering this country, divided it among his soldiers and made it into a Roman colony, so that these Romanians are descendants, as it is said, of these ancient colonists, and they preserve the name of the Romans." ~ 1532, Francesco della Valle Secretary of Aloisio Gritti, a natural son to Doge
What does Razboinici mean in Romanian ?
In Serbian it's "Bandits"

Interesting.Thanks for the info![]()
And razboi is war.
I actually am wondering, to continue this topic: does anyone have any good sources of historical reconstructions? I need accurate, modern drawings of warriors from the past. Higher quality drawings are appreciated, but accuracy should be given priority. Osprey seems really popular here though the accuracy of those books are... meh.
Yeah, razboi means war, so warrior would be "razboinic" ("razboinici" = plural, "razboinicii" = articulated plural). It's interesting to consider the etymologies of these warrior terms. For instance "sergeant" today is derived from "servant", even though the sergeant today is more used to giving orders than taking them.![]()
Război has a Slavic origin where it had the sense of plunder, killing. I guess Romanians who suffered too many invasions were very aware of the true nature of the war. In Serbo-Croat the word is Rat . Is this word related with Război? I know in other Slav languages (the majority) the word is Vojina.
