when I load the DBeditor, and click add, the furthest I can go is C:\programfiles\steam\steampps\common\empiretotalwar\data. and the data folder only shows the 4 manilla folders, I cant see any of the .pack files at all.

I dont think the db editor can read the pack files.
You need the Pack file manager to extract the DB files, modify them with DB editor, then load the modded files back into the pack.
Edit-BTW where did you get the DB editor? I have been looking ages for it with no luck.
I just did a search for DBeditor and it brought up a list of stuff including the DBeditor tool.
go to the mod threads, not the HOSTED mod thread, and in there you will find a great guide of how to use the Dbeditor, and pack manager, you will need to use both.

Do you need both to change this for a additional units mod?How to change the "limit" of an unit:
I am new to modding or changing anything in ETW.I down loaded DBEditor because it was said to be easy to work with.I wanted to make some minor changes to the units in ETW.Mainly to change the units available limits.I did not see any install directions for DBEditor and i clicked the launch icon.It seems to have loaded up the ETW mod packs on its own.So i scan through the options and found where the units section was and where the set numbers were that decides how many of each type you can have in the game.I also read if you change that number to 0 there will be no limit.
Well I tried, its seemed simple to make the change. So i changed one for a test and saved that change. It look like it was working then i locked up.I could not even click out of it but had to use Control\Alt\Delete to end the program. My task manager read that the DBEditor was not responding.
So what am i doing wrong or does any part of it need to be installed in ETW to work.
I have (MS frame work 3.5)

Oh its not you, you just have to wait, the program kind off stops responding, you just have to be patient and wait a little bit for it.
