    Default What Ideology are you?

[Disclaimer: There are tons of ideologies around, and If I haven't listed them all, don't flame me for it. I'll edit the poll (you can edit polls, right?) and add them. The above is simply what came to mind at the time]

I thought it would be good to get a sort of census going for who follows what ideology, so we can get a decent demographic going, or at least attempt to.

No, sir! Never admit or say that it is old-fashioned; that just provides the abolitionists and skeptics with more ammunition, for goodness' sake! Monarchy was, is, and will always be a prescient way to represent the soul of a nation, irrespective of politics. To call it old-fashioned is only to discredit it in the eyes of our "advanced-at-all-costs" society. Dismiss their nonsense, and be proud of your present monarchism!

Conservative, though I am a lot closer to the center than most American conservatives appear to be - for one thing, I don't mind health reform, just not the kind Obama's putting out.

Though I must admit, monarchism does have its charms

Srsly, all the other billions of people disagree. To be precise, it's old-school limitation of freedom. If you have no chance of becoming a king, then your screwed. Your freedom goes out to the trash and you are bound to respect someone you don't even like. Monarchism is like 18th century man.

    Republican

I believe in the virtue of the Republican version of government. Funny thing is, in Canada our head of state is technically the Queen...that may change though.

    These two statements are redundant.

Oh, bugger it; I might as well be honest, after all. I like the idea of an absolute monarchy, even if it is one that murders me for being gay. There is such a nice feeling of brutal power in it, and all the old, pompous traditions flow like wondrous oil. You may say that absolute monarchists want to be "taken care of", lazily, but that's nonsense. Everyone knows that absolute monarchs never cared for their citizens one bit, and never did anything to help them ever, other than to offer a few religious or intellectual freedoms. I just love the sense of godly power and endless royal supremacy - it is a symbol for God's eternal and infinite power on Earth. As you will see, I don't care about equality or any wishy-washy nonsense like political correctness and sensitivity.

Absolute monarchy is the best testing ground for the human soul while on Earth. Life on Earth should be nasty, brutish, short, and full of religion, so it fits this perfectly. As long as human beings are saved for Heaven, what rights they have on Earth really matter very little. The post-Renaissance world says that we should improve the conditions of people here and now, and not wait for Heaven. I must say that I detest that idea so very much.

Post-script: no, I don't want to be a monarch, nor his prince, nor a grand- or arch-duke, nor a marquess, nor a count, earl, viscount, baron, baronet, or knight! I just want to be.

how is giving whole control to one man and his family different than a dictatorship? Everything would depend on one guy's decisions...what if he is a bad guy? And how are the other ideas are going to be represented? Not everybody is Jesus monny.
"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

Being active witness and later participant off all turbulent political/economical scene in former Yugoslavia and Europe in last two decades, …socialism, transition, democracy, privatization, nationalism, load of different "meshias" and political savors and ideologist…working in USA for some time , being a friend to uneducated peasants to professors of prestigious Universities…I must admit I am turning from conservative democrat to Stalinist…hard core one. Maybe it is bad...but I must be honest to myself…my life experience, education is turning my mind in that direction.

Is it left wing in this poll?

    That really depends.

If we have a strong leader, wise and not afraid to take actions and defy risks in order to better the country and the living conditions of the people in it, I must say I fall under the Fascist idealogy.

But if we lack strong leaders, with adequate balls or wisdom, I'd say democratic.

At least in a Democracy, leaders can be weak and stupid without the country necessarily going to hell for it as easy as if they had full authority, as in all the masses governing the state, at least a few people will know what to do to prevent total up.

    So I say:

    1. Fascism for efficiency.
    2. Democracy for political stability.
"He who wishes to be the best for his people, must do that which is necessary - and be willing to go to hell for it."

Let the Preservation, Advancement and Evolution of Mankind be our Greater Good.

Stalinist –a person, Stalinism – ideology. Well, I guess it is Marxism…it was general ideology, while Stalinism was practical application of that theory in post WWI Russia. For different countries, different solutions are needed...

Where did you get that? Stalinism was state capitalism with the most extreme level of exploitation.

On economics I am quite socialistic though, I support a big state that offers education, healthcare and social security and I don't mind the goverment sometimes interfering in the market.

The closest on that list is probably fascism or national socialism, but I do in no way want to be put in the same box as Hitler and co. so I chose center.

I also support the universal healthcare and free education that we have in Denmark and in general our welfare state

You guys sound like One Nation Conservatives. As in old school conservatives - Benjamin Disraeli style. Socially Right wing, but economically centre-left and protectionist. Pro things like universal healthcare.

When I say Marxist on that poll, it differentiates from Socialism and Anarcho-Communism in that the ideology in question requires some basis in Marx's writings, as well as a general belief in the transitional phase before the stateless, classless, communist phase. This includes: Classical Marxism, Leninism, Trotskyism, Marxism-Leninism (aka Stalinism), Maoism, Marxism-Leninism-Castroism, and Titoism, as well as many others.

Personally I'm not a supporter of protectionism. I like the free market and capitalism, I just think the state should intervene and regualte the market as it currently does. Allthough I would support lower corporate taxes if they are raised at some point.
