The Hessdal "Will - o - Wisp" Phenomena (incl. Video & Pictures)
Any one heard of it?
It have been a "folk saying" from this vally called Hessdalen from the early 19th century, and reports of this for 50 years. For 20 years, it's been said that one of these lights came to the ground, then up, before dissapearing and it's said to leave some sort of print on the ground which could be seen from many years. The commen man claim it has some solid object, and shouldn't be confused by the northern light and it's mirror from the sky. Their neihgbouring town say the drink to much home grown liqour., until the whole science department (from Russia, USA, England, Germany, Italy, etc.) came in buss' to the little town of Hessdalen.
The reports have showed that these light move in 30 000 kn/h, jet it does not creates any sounds, which would suggest that we are not talking about a solid object - but burning gass form. This shape also change movement and direction is a superspeed, which again, would doubt that we are talking about a solid shape. There are several examples of lights emerging into one another. Some can not be seen by the human eye, only by radar...
It's shape ranges in a great variety of shapes, speeds, sizes, etc. From a short glimps of flash (that it's almost impossible to recognize); To a sigard shaped burning object of 15 m (45 f.); To a small fotball like, flaming object;
When you google and tube images of Hessdal, you will se a light beam, but it's actually one source of which drags the beam, thus creating a sigar effect in a photo.
Scientist know that there is alot of energy, they can't be specific, but several towns men say that their watches have stoped when this light is in range. Now, the scientist wounder if this can be a future energy source jet to be discovered....
The more statistics we gather, the harder it get to know what it is...
Scientist working on it.
What do you think it is, and how can be use it?

u-TUBE. Very good documentary which covers most of it, specially at Part 4 which summer it all up - both graphically and theoretically:

Two photos taken by Björn Lagesson on Sunday 26 February at 03.08. They are taken with a grating in front. The lightstreak you see over the "lightpoint" is the spectrum of the light. The shortest wavelength is nearest the light. The picture at left is taken a few seconds before the picture at right. The report was rated at F5. You may read more about this story in the report: "Spectrographic records".

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

This is the only forum I visit with any sort of frequency and I'm glad it has provided a home for RTR since its own forum went down in 2007. Hopefully my donation along with others from TWC users will help get the site back to its speedy heyday, which will certainly aid us in our endeavor to produce a full conversion mod Rome2.

not a new thing, they arecompresed gases that some times ignite or shine over planes wings, my grandfather used to watch them 60 years ago, they are very comon

SWAMPGAS!!?!!!@!@#@22!!shift+1!!
lol.
but really though, It's probably just a highly energetic region, i forget the technical term.... but basically similar to stonehenge and the like. Spirits/Ufos/etc tend to show up more in these areas.

Like it was said before it's swamp gas. The swamp near my house does the same thing and scared the hell out of me when I was little. Doesn't seem to be all that special IMO except for the frequency that this particular swamp does it.

This is different than St. Elmo's fire which occurs because of electrical discharge. The swamp gas spontaneously ignites when methane and phospine gases combine. They're called willowisps, jackolaterns, corpse candles etc. SEF's are distinctly cooler as they can cause a casual halo of electrical discharge from any pointed or edged object over long periods of time, (hats, horse ears, guns, finger nails etc) they're very beautiful but very different than a willowisp.

I thought you needed a swamp to create swamp gas?

It contains among other things Scandium. It's a rear and extremly hard material used by Soviet union for fighter planes and nucklear missles fins to pierce the polar ice caps. The area also contains one of Norway largest ore field, 16 millions tons of it. Mostly zinc and copper. Not to metion a couple of old sulphur mines across a lake. Could be interesting to capture this energy and capitalise on it. Hmmm... maybe another "oil field", how fun would that be.

Are you still convinced this is extra-natural phenomena? These balls of light have been explained, there's a reason the area doesn't attract much in the way of scientists anymore. The balls of lights are plasma, said plasma is not some energy we can tap into but little more than the interaction of gasses. These balls might cause an industrial revolution in pre-fire cultures but believe when I say the process is no more impressive than a burning match.
You seem to ignore the fact that these things occur all over the world and aren't necessarily uncommon.
