Just remove all reference to them in descr_strat.txt and descr_regions.txt.

And what would happen in case of a revolt?
I believe it CTDs which is why I said all references.

to the rebels I would guess, though I haven't specifically tried that tbh... Though afaik settlements only rebel to another non-rebel faction if you take a settlement of that faction and you're at war with them. I have never seen it happen that a settlement revolt to another faction when they're not at war (except when you use shadow factions of course).
But you can leave them in the creator for buildings, since they only determine the look of the building... (could for example be useful with special buildings)
Edit:
When does it CTD? with a revolt or when loading?
In a loyalist revolt (the one where it revolts back to the faction_creator).

Hmm ok... And can that happen at any time? Or is that with only an at war status?
It's actually very strange that that can cause a CTD... I would think it wouldn't be that different from when a faction has been defeated and isn't in the game anymore.
I actually hoped I could exploit this to make mini-region have their own look on the campaign map... Now I'm afraid I have to do it the more complex route after all![]()

What do you mean by, their own look? Like Settlements? Or strat banners and strat buildings?I actually hoped I could exploit this to make mini-region have their own look on the campaign map... Now I'm afraid I have to do it the more complex route after all

To give them their own stratmap model. In RTR we basically have two types of towns: mini-regions and ordinary towns. In FoE, the only way to see the difference between the two is because we CAPITALIZED the major regions. But obviously giving mini's their own model would look much better
So what I have done atm, is give the roman and greek mini-regions the faction_creator armenia (which has the egyptian culture and isn't present as playable faction). Then I changed the look of egyptian towns to roman/greek mini-regions (both on the campaign and battle-map)
So all roman/greek towns with the faction_creator armenia look like roman/greek mini-regions, while the roman/greek towns with default faction_creator look like ordinary towns.
(For barbarian and carthaginian mini-regions I used the nomad and eastern cultures, which are the cultures of two unplayable factions, so they can swap town/mini-region models easily.)
