Swivel Guns on Ships

I cant seem to find any clear pictures of these but I have seen them before.. they are like small cannons mounted on top of the decks at the side, probably for shooting at enemy crew...

How come they never made the final cut of NTW?

I think tose things are carronades not sure though

A Carronade is a large short ranged cannon, those are swivel guns, designed to fire grape and cut down crew...

Believe they are swivel guns

The MMO Pirates of the Burning Sea incorporated them on many hull designs...of course that was a sub-par game IMHO.

what about a swivel gun frigates

It is a swivel gun. Anti-personnel weapon, generally full of grape. They were portable, basically just clamped onto the rail, usually placed on the poop or fo'castle or even the fighting tops.

I am not sure why they are not in NTW. Maybe boarding sucks again, so they want you to avoid it.

I could be an upgrade or something for a future mod?

Perhapes it was too confusing to motion capture them being fired, especially considering that they were so close to the normal cannon that the motion actors would have to be filmed working next to each other at the same time, and you'd have to capture the entire deck to make it work

I think the amount they would add to navel combat as compared to amount of work that would go into making them just wasn't worth it.
