Default Is there a sub mod for SS that makes crusades harder?

Well i love crusading which are my favorite things to do, but they are way to easy. I never lost a crusade and i play on the hardest settings. Is there a sub mod that makes the AI smarter or allows more crusading armies from my country to go and fight instead of only sending one?

You can send more than 1 crusading army in 6.2 and I thought also in 6.1 though if you are trying to make Crusade more difficult that won't help with that. If you want difficult Crusade send half stack to interior of Holy Land rather than a coastal city, IE- both Cairo and Jerusleum are 1 turn march from coast. So pick different target when you are choosing Crusade city.

there should be a submod where the factions with the top 5 cardinals in the college or the factions with a capital region of 100% catholicism have the ability to participate in a papal election style occurence where you can vote on a crusade target (the one with the most votes gets a crusade). this will prevent the annoying punishment the pope gives you when you dont join crusades and had no say in the location- it is only right that the player gets punished if you do not join the crusade you voted for the decided location, or if you have a certain level of papal favour.

factions who are inneligable to vote for crusade targets should be given more papal conversion missions etc. - at least this will give the player more incentives to complete the popes requests and generally suck up to him like most of the kingdoms did historically.

who knows perhaps its possible to give the faction leader an ancillary/trait when he reaches a certain level of piety that enables him to take part in the 'crusade council,' or a bishop with full piety could get something similar- much like byg's war council creation.

in other words, i agree, crusades are called too frequently and are too easy.

Its like every time i arrive at a crusade target they have like 4 squads defending and i just massacre them. like a mod to make the AI smarter will be an awesome mod, making a crusade last longer.

Unfortunately I don't think the AI treats a Crusade or Jihad on its city as any real threat until the armies arrive so AI often leaves the target city mostly undefended.

To increase the difficulty there I believe there are some mods that have script running that automatically increase AI garrisons of target cities. If that is what you are looking for? Not sure what mods or scripts but you can look or ask around...

Otherwise try to always be the one who calls a Crusade and pick more difficult targets not along the coast... that will give AI some more time to respond. Or if its a coastal city just wait by the target city and don't siege for a couple turns. The AI will definitely send some reinforcements.
