    Icon3 Geomod Tool and Third Age Total War

    There have been several queries in the Geomod thread regarding the problems to edit TATW with the tool. I had a look into that matter and have edited the necessary files to allow for the use of the Geomod tool.

    Note: this has been applied to TATW Version 1.41

    The following procedures have been necessary to be able to use Geomod with TATW:
    1. in descr_strat the lone resource chocolate did not have a komma after its name, causing geomod to freeze at 79%
    2. several units were not entered in text\export_units (see "Initial Geomod Log")
    3. several resources were on the same co-ordinates as forts, these have been removed and saved in "Add back" to be added back after work with Geomod
    4. two forts were not recognized by Geomod, these have been removed and saved in "Add back" to be added back after work with Geomod
    5. One duplicated resource has been moved to the "Add back" file to be added back after work with Geomod
    6. invalid trading resources have been removed from descr_regions. These have no influence.
    7. In descr_mercenaries there is no unit entered for the pool Eriador. Geomod will place 'unit' in the line underneath it which will cause an error. Simply delete the 'unit' entry.

    Please remember that Geomod version 6.18 creates a faulty historic_events.string.bin file every time you save your work. This delays the start of the game by up to 3 minutes. Simply delete the file before starting the game, it will be created automatically.

    General errors that were corrected:
    1. Gender entry (male) missing in descr_strat for character Gandalf
    2. Thengel and his wife are too young for son Theoden (one year)
    3. Aragorn and his wife are too young for son Rich (two years)
    4. Geomod sorts settlements in descr_strat according to descr_regions. Capitals have to be moved to the top in descr_regions
    5. Too many children in the Mordor (england) family tree.

    Note of caution: always keep back-ups of the files you are working with!

    Files used by Geomod - asterisk (*) shows files that are modified when you save your work:

    ++ special note
    This file (historic_events.txt.strings.bin) is not properly generated by Geomod and causes a long delay at game start.
    To rectify you should download the StringBin Converter (requires Python 2.6) and extract the converter into the data\text folder.
    Click 'convert_all' to get updated txt files, which in turn will generate new string.bin files, solving the problem.

    @sirvinniei
    1. Are you modding these files in a separate folder?
    2. What changes have you made before you saved in Geomod?

    Please describe how you proceeded after downloading my attachment.

    Well, I downloaded the file, opened geomod and opened the file, but when I looked in the settlements all buildings were gone, so whenever I try to save it and try it out it gives a core-building missing error. And yes I dont mod the third age thing directly but only use the necesarry files and yes I deleted the map.rwm but the prob is whenever I open the file all buildings are gone. Can it be because I use windows 7?

    I am failing to see where the problem could be.
    Attached is a pic of the setup on my machine.
    If you choose the TATW_Map folder with Geomod, then everything should be there as you can see in the second pic.

    Maybe it's the geomod file

    You have got only the world\base folder there. Simply put the TATW_Map.rar file into the mods folder of Medieval2 and extract it there. That way you will have it the same way as in my example - together with all the sub folders.
