I think that says it all, but just for clearification - I heard about a hollywood-ish film about some viking battle (offcourse), and brad pittdicaprio would be in it. Also, there was one more. Irrc, it was Mel Gibson. (which tells me it will be of better quality then the pathfinder)

... any hollywooders heard of such a film or how I can find it's name?

    Thanks

    EDIT:

Dicaprio playing probably a main role in a viking movie, and Mel Gibson directing. the beach mixed with the highlander/passion of the christ, Will this be jet another terrible blow for the viking movie industry?

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

I think I heard (or read) somewhere that they were going to speak german, I have no idea why though...
Cant say I have high expectations for this movie, sadly as it would be interesting with a good viking era/style movie...

Could be awesome as long as they lay the worn out viking genocide indians scenario aside.

Give me raids in the Europes mid-ages.

Perhaps Mel, and his vikings, could have another go at the English alà Braveheart?
It would hovewer be interesting to see the movies take on "Europe" at that time, to my knowledge that period hasnt been covered that much in movies (atleast not in a more serious manner)..

I just read an interview with Anthony Hopkins, in which he said he grew his beard to play Odin in a movie. Possible link ?

Hmm, I didn't realize there was a Viking movie industry, probably not one to get rich in.
Mel Gibson said that he wants to do a realistic Viking movie, realistic as in Passion of the Christ/Apocalypto of course, meaning they're supposed to speak whatever they think they spoke at the time like old norse or old english or what have you.

You can read the interview here.

Mel Gibson doing a 9th century viking movie in "old languages" and with DiCaprio in the lead I actually think this sounds pretty good. Not to mention this:

Gibson: I want a Viking to scare you. I don’t want a Viking to say, “I’m going to die with a sword in my hand.” I don’t want to hear that. It pulls the rug out from under you. I want to see somebody who I have never seen before speaking low guttural German who scares the living out of me coming up to my house. What is that like? What would that have been like?

Yeah I must agree it sounds (alot) better than I thought it would, so it seems I was wrong (in my hasty assumption) and I will look forward to this movie..It will be interesting to see the rest of the cast aswell eventually..I dont know what exactly I had expected earlier but I like how says that he wants to keep it as realistic as possible, and that quote is really promising..

    IT!

I though dicaprio was playing Brian Boru in a viking movie, what happened to that?

So people, do you think the Vikings will act as they were half zombies/blood thirsty ghouls, or the "nice guy"?
