Default To Kill People and Break Things

There's a saying about the army that its there to 'Kill bad guys and break things,' and while TW often gets the 'Kill People' part down pretty well, battle damage is often times minimal.

I've some conflciting reports that artillery will now leave craters, etc.. Is that true? Also, since artillyer is reputed to be much more effective, will we see trees, buildings, etc get blown up or go on fire?

I know this isn't the era of WWI and WWII modern artillyer with high explosives, but still the battlfiels shouldn't be as 'sterile' as they have been in the past.

Also, CA seems to be into eyecandy, so why not?

Houses get blown up quite beautifully

Craters and "smear" marks are left by cannons, but they do not affect gameplay (too small to warrant cover)

Hills and suchlike now negate bonoses on the higher unit and penalties against the lower, whether charging down or up the hill or shooting from it

Any mention of destructible fences, walls, stakes and abatis in the reviews?
I went looking but gave up after one too many "wow! the artillery looks AWESOME" comments.
