    Default AI and Money

Because I want to have some much larger battles and thus a harder campaign i've decided to modify some of the game files so that money making things (resources, ports, markets etc...) provide alot more income. But before I do I was wondering if the AI would actually be able to take advantage of all this extra money and build larger armies and a more powerful empire? Or have they got some kind of hard coded game plan?

PS - I know that this is a really random question but has anyone here completed Assassins Creed 2? If so what did you make of the ending? Sorry I just completed it there and i wonder if anyone came to the same conclusion I did.

Oh God. Trust me, you don't have to worry about the AI getting more money. If you open the console, you'll notice many factions getting free $$ every turn (Rebels, cough cough.) The AI gets a TON of free cash already, so you probably have nothing to worry about, lol. But you may've supercharged it a bit...

If you want harder game give the AI more free stacks or limit your own army making ability will make more of a dif than giving AI money. AI already swims in money and only goes bankrupt because it has 10 full stacks with only 4 cities but 5 of them are wandering the wilderness.

Or simply don't recruit any units. That WILL make the campaign tough, believe me.

They get lots of free money already? I wouldnt have thought so after seeing the crappy armies that the AI throws at me constantly. Very rarely do they actually send some half decent units.

They don't make armies of good units, just LOTS of armies of mediocre units. The best army I've seen the AI make is a stack of DFKs with Chivalric Knights and a few pieces of artillery. The AI doesn't have the sort of human intelligence required to build an effective army to go and forge an empire with. Not that we'd expect them to, as that would be disturbing, and mean we're closer to Judgement Day than I had originally thought......

I have been counting, and I came to the conclusion we still have a few years, according to AI's stupidity. What do you think?

If the AI which is trying to take over the world was built by CA, I wouldn't be too worried.

My God. An AI created by CA taking over the world. That just made the 2012 predictions so much scarier!

A lot depends on what stage of the game you're at.

in the early era expect mediocre units for everyone.
if you play with Real Combat / Real recruitment then the better units arrive later and often from higher tier buildings.

Generally the AI aims to build balanced armies when attacking.
most of the open field battles I've fought the AI has a couple of siege weapons, a couple of heavy cav, some skirmish cav, a selection of missiles, spears and sword infantry.

If you intercept an AI army before it has finished assembling itself, you may find it imbalanced.

The replacement rate for units means that spear and missile infantry will be available in higher numbers than heavy infantry.
So the AI recruits the best units it can afford and puts them together with any bits and pieces from previous armies and that's what you face.

It's a more historical selection than just solid phalanxes of top-quality heavy infantry and cavalry.

We're mainly worried about the improvement modders make. Maybe we should end their activities?

Too bad 2012 is a mathematic mistake. It should be one, or maybe two, centuries later which gives us a flash of insight into the development of CA

It's the end of their calendar, not just an Era. If we're lucky, the cyclus will simply start again and there is no need to worry. If we're not lucky, I don't believe it so there is still no need to worry. At least, so I hope

I heard that their calendar would simply begin again if the Mayans were still around. I dont see any reason why their calendar would function any differently to the Gregorian calendar. Even if it did I still say its a load of bull****.
