Does anyone know on RTW campaign what makes your armies turn from pricples, hastia and Triarii to legionary cohorts and auxilla?

pricples(spelling?), hastia(spelling?) and Triarii, are there in the beginning but,you have to upgrade your barrack.

    As for legion,build a imperial palance(spelling?)

Ugh. There are a bunch of threads like this, and this will probably spark a debate, but it goes like this:

In the early game, you are simply limited to the Hastati, Principies and Triarii. But, once you upgrade one of your cities into a Huge city(Imperial Palace needed to do so) You get a message saying that the Gaius Marius reforms have come and you can recruit the Legions.

Usually you get the money and city size to do this from between 240 and 180 B.C., but in special cases it can happen as soon as 250 B.C.

I think what you mean is what UPGRADES your hastati into cohorts right? Cause the upgrade wont happen...once the marian reforms begin(which is after you build a huge city/imperialpalace). Your older soldiers just become obscelete and useless. They will not be able to be retrained and have their numbers restored. They become just like mercs. However after the reforms you get the better troops AKA legionary cohorts, roman calvary ETC

Make sure to train as much traii as possible before you lose the ability to train them as they beat the hell out of Auxilia as anti cav troops.
