Great Eyecandy!

I have just watched some videos that may not be officially released but was struck by the quality of the land battles. Their is grass and pollen floating around the battlefield! Eyecandy is definetly 100% better and the volley fire looks stunning. The sound needs improving and I wish they would get a better bugler. Other than that it looks impressive. Now gameplay is another topic.

I never saw a game with sounds that realistic! haven't you ever shot with a rifle in real life? or heard a group of men march! it is like perfectly realistic in the new vids.

Agree, TW is just eyecandy nowadays. Looking at how whole units fire through friendly troops killing cavalry, with laser beam shots, shows they didn't make the slight effort to understand what a napoleonic battlefield was like. The way charging cavalry move through formed line without any problems gives another hint on how poorly they tried to depict napoleonic warfare.

I preordered NTW just for uniforms and period atmosphere, I have no more illusions about a decent gameplay which btw will be really hard to mod given the new approach about modding we witnessed in Empire.

But this thread is about the eye candy, not the gameplay.
I really love the new graphics. Beautiful battlefields, soldiers effects. Now if the gameplay is better then Empires (which I thought wasn't that bad, ow boy people think I'm crazy now) then this will be an awesome game. Yes sir.

Agreed... a visual improvement is apparent! I really like the immersion factors; smoke and atmospheric haze...

It's damnably pretty, and it seems fairly accurate and immersive

...it's all resting on the AI now, everything else appears to be fine
