Default The Liby-Phoenicians in Carthaginian Society

The Liby-Phoenicians are described in EB as being huge in Number and so are used alot in Carthages army. And Im wondering, what did the Carthaginian citizens think of these half breed people and the Libyans? Were they held in somewhat high regard as soldiers of Carthage, or were they thought of as some sort of unwanted mongrels?

Also, im wondering, I think saw somewhere that the sofets (or however you spell it) are ment to stay in Carthage and not be a general, so Im wondering if there are negative traits that pop up for the faction leader if he stays away from Carthage for too long?

    1) As i recall the Liby-Phoenicans were regular citizens of the Carthaginian Empire. They didn't have the privileges of the Carthaginians, but were treated better then other non-punic population.

    2) The Sophet was indeed ment to stay in Carthage, as he was sort of a leader of the Carthaginian Senate. He (IIRC) never led armies.
In EB there is no penalty though if you move him out of the City, since it's to unpredictable, and the AI woudn't know how to cooperate as well

I'm not really well versed about Carthage, but I remember reading somewhere(might have been in EB descriprions actually ) that trade and farming(not like a farmer, but more in the sense of a landlord) was considered the proper career of a Carthaginian. Army career was held in lower esteem, since the soldiers were generally mercenaries and "we all know these beasts are loyal as long as we pay them more than the enemy" .
